Nothing wrong with Jimmy Ellis making #5 of the 1960s.

I think the relative overall grades for each decade are all very debatable.

You're gonna get a lot of this until you have your list ironed out but - Peter Jackson is a lock for the 1890's.

    Probably bumps the grade, too.

    Johansson did nothing after 1959.
Patterson kick his ass in 1960 and '61, and that was that.

Past his prime for almost the whole decade, but, yeah, he probably deserves in.

I agree, Jackson needs to be in there.

What about Choynski? Could he feasibly squeeze in?

can't be arsed checking boxrec but wasn't the machen ko1 in 60? and the patterson ko?

if either aren't then I'll rescind my criticism on that.

was ellis any better than terrell though?

*Ingo ko'd Machen in '58 and Patterson in '59.

I don't know their criteria. If h2h, Liston makes sense in the '50's. If on accomplishments in the decade, he does not and it should have gone to Johansson.

I would have gone with Ingo and listed Liston only in the '60's.

My criterium would have been if this man were stretched in his first fight of the next decade, and then vanished from top-level boxing, would he be viewed as a top man. Dempsey in the teens would be. Liston in the fifties would not.

Which HW's do you give a ghost of a chance for being ranked in three decades? Stretching it.

    Interesting list.

While I don't necessarily agree with the order some of the top 5 picks, I agree with the ratings of each decade.

If you were to put this in the general forum they Klitschko trolls would send you virtual anthrax.
