    Valuev is total garbage. Having him headline the frontpage of the ring magazine website would be an insult to the sport.

    Exactly. Its fine and understandable that some people have a personal preference for the Dawson fight. But its pretty obvious that the big fight last night was Haye-Valuev. And it seems the ONLY reason why The Ring led with Dawson, is that they have a narrow North American perspective, so a significant and meaningful fight, in which a new, young, and marketable HW champ emerges, is given second billing to a rematch of no real significance, simply because one of the fighters is a hyped up American (nothing wrong with being a hyped up American...but you get my point).

    Haye made Valuev do the chicken dance and took his title.

    Holyfield averaged about 1 punch per round and lost.

    Valuev is a difficult guy to look good against, no one ever has. And Haye's tactics and execution were spot on. He also answered some questions with regards to his stamina, and to a lesser degree, his chin.

    I just find their layout tiresome. I go there on Mondays for the mailbag, and hardly ever see more than three or four links to their articles on the front page. Don't really have the time these days to read lengthy articles anyhow. The Scene's front page kicks ass.

    Credit for rocking Valuev.

    99% of the rest of the fight was very dull.Haye's stamina was a non issue because of his very low punch out-put.

    The chin thing is still in tha air.Valuev doesnt really have good power and sucks at delivering and landing punches.

    Listen, I like David Haye. I commend him for his win over Valuev (not as much as others do though). But I expected it. And TBH I boycott anything Valuev-related, and think other boxing fans should follow suit. This guy just flat out sucks.

    I consider myself unbiased when it comes to Haye, and here was my pre-fight opinion on Haye fighting Valuev:

    I'm sure you're going to explain to me that The Ring is an American site and that's why they are focusing on an American fighter in a meaningless fight, rather than two Europeans in a historically significant fight.

    Personally, I think that's an outdated concept, there are more Americans than any other nationality on ESB, yet the threads ratio between Dawson-Johnson and Haye-Valuev is probably about 20:1. So are you suggesting that all the American ESBers have gone on vacation from the internet?

    Or perhaps its just that boxing is a global sport, thriving in Europe, and Americans are more open minded than The Ring (and you?) give them credit for.

    Don't forget the Ring - GBP - HBO axis though. This probably has way more to do with that than pro-American bias.

    Not at all. I AGREE with you guys - the fact that they give more attention to a relatively meaningless fight like Dawson-Johnson is ABSURD! :patsch

    I was just trying to see if you were suggesting nationalistic motives were behind it, which I thought was the case. There may be some truth to this, however it could also just be journalistic myopia - brought on the relative proximity of the fight, the fact that the Haye fight wasn't on U.S. networks, etc.. In sum, I agree it's ridiculous, I question whether it's the result of some nefarious nationalistic plot.
