Does anyone need any more proof that RING magazine p4p list is meaningless and very probably corrupt ?

Is there any explanation as to why Ward has entered the list at #2 this month ?
Is it because the American superstar #1 had retired, they need to build up another American ?

    It's pretty decent.

Ward should be #1, Wlad and Rigo should be higher, and Golovkin and Brook don't belong on the list at all, but it's not bad.

If Dirrell had all his faculties I think he could beat Ward. He boxed the socks off Abe in much better fashion than Ward did. Even though he lost to Froch he was clowning him more than Ward could do.

Dirrell is a mental midget, whereas Ward is one of the toughest boxers mentally in recent years.

That's like saying if Golota had his head on right, he could have been undisputed champion for years. It's true, but he didn't have his head on right, and neither does Dirrell.

News flash! Some people outside of America, don't adhere to the standard American diet. It's normal for healthy people to be sub 150 lbs. But, seeing how you have a double chin and is most likely overweight, I wouldn't expect you to understand that. Chocolatito would KO 99% of the 200+ pound men in the world bro.

    I would think that
    1. Part of his statements are just for humor
    2. part is pointing out the talent pool is quite small (no pun) among such a low weight and its therefore unfair to compare them favorably to the larger weight classes with more diverse competition, and
    3. part is just this pointing out how silly pfp really is. You can't take away Wlad's size any more than you can take away Mayweather's speed, as for as the absurd "who beats who" argument. To the extent pfp has any relevance, it should be about looking at the dominance fighters have shown in their own weight class(es). With Mayweather gone, there's really no one that can claim to be as dominant as Wlad has been for as long. It's therefore silly to put him below #1.

That's highly unlikely. Speaking as a not particularly talented or experienced 6'3 240 pound "boxer" whose experience extends only to sparring in some boxing gyms, I've sparred against much more talented lower weight professional guys. They were expected to hit me full force and I wasn't supposed to return the favor. They really couldn't hurt me. I could barely lay a glove on a few of the more talented ones. But put me in a ring for 10 rounds and while they would decision me 100-90, unless I drop from exhaustion, they weren't putting me down. My understanding is that my experience is generally assumed as a given in boxing gyms when matching smaller guys vs bigger guys in sparring. Gonzalez is great enough that maybe he could crack some 200 plus pound chins, but 99%? No, physics just doesn't work that way.

    So...

Someone like Audley Harrison was a better boxer than Floyd Mayweather, because he'd beat him inside the ring, and on the street, right? And Akebono is a better boxer than both, simply because he'd suffocate both just by sitting on them?

After all, he's at least twice the size that they were. :good

Again, pound for pound simply means which fighter has displayed the best skill-set against the highest caliber of opponent in or around his weight-class. In Roman's case, he's dominated the three weight classes that he's been in throughout his career. And since they're all within the same vicinity as one another, that means he's dominated a field of fighters that actually consists of more fighters than those in heavier divisions.

I know that you may pine for the time when the heavyweight king was the de facto number one fighter on the planet, and I actually understand that line of thinking. But it fails to take into account the fact that technical acumen, skill and physical talent isn't always proportionate to size.

And that's not brain surgery either.
