The much anticipated rematch has come and gone, leaving a lot of fans wanting a 3rd. I for one can see the third being one sided so would rather see GGG take on JACOBS in a rematch first. GGG(36) though a very dangerous fighter is clearly on the decline and age will do it to us all. CANELO(28) however, is the opposite, he is on the rise at an age that still allows plenty of improvement. GGG has left his run for multiple mega fights to late. The fact he didn't go up a weight class when no middle weight would fight him a few years ago has left him having to find big fights not in his prime. To say that CANELO should have fought him a few years ago is ridicules. Canelo wasn't big enough( still probably isn't) or strong enough at 24-25 as he hadn't hit is prime. To the fight itself, I had Canelo winning 116-112. Those who seen GGG winning the fight most likely seen Cotto beating Canelo and pacman beating money. This was a competitive fight, a close fight, (mainly do size difference) but a clear victory to Alvarez. The result shouldn't come as a surprise when looking at the ages of both fighters. Kostya Tzyu (36) v Ricky Hatton(26) being a good example.
I think I'd favour Canelo by stoppage if they fought a third time. I think GGG has earned a third fight though & is unlucky not to have got a decision in at least one of the first two (perhaps both). Give him his third shot at it though & let's see how the cards fall.
