    Great find. :good

    Now we're getting somewhere.

I'd be willing to buy it to verify Red's claims, but the question becomes, if it's not in this mag, in which magazine would it possibly be Red?

Before I consider buying this mag, I might take the Pea-Macho sparring question over to CyberBoxingZone. There's a couple of cats there that are well read as far as the 80's boxing scene is concerned. It will be interesting to hear if they have heard anything about Hector abusing Pete :D :good

Red might buy it to re-round his collection, and he pays about 1/4 of the shipping we do as well as our dollar being weak of late.

That's true. There's a massive Larry Holmes fan over at CyberBoxingZone that might help us out here I'm guessing. He's likely to have it and should be able to report as to it's contents. :good

I guess the question now becomes: did you confuse the Whitaker-Camacho sparring for the Camacho-Paul sparring Red?

Even if this is the case, it comes down to Camacho's word "I used to chase Jimmy Paul out of the Ring all the Time" against Paul's "I Heard a Grumble or a Grunt every Time I went to His Body".

The likelihood of news turning up on Hector 'abusing' Pernell in the ring just plummeted big time.

Thoughts on where we go from here Red?

Can some one post the writting if can Holmes break the record. I think that would be a very impressive read. What were the options of the time?? I was only a baby than. So I have no ideal on the thoughts on Holmes closeing in on the record and almost breaking.

And what do they mean, not Rocky's record, the REAL record??

What happens in sparring matches is difficult to confirm. If I didnt have the Hagler Weaver sessions displayed on JT's avatar, or the account written in Socery at Caesar's, I dont know where I'd be. Just the fact it turned it up as described should tell you something.

And at one time I had possession of the written account of the Camacho-Pernell sparring match . I don't know how it is that no one else has missed this article. It's not the easiest article to but someone else besides me should know something about it-at least remember reading it.

My impression when I read it, was I wasn't surprised at the outcome since I already knew Hector fights dirty. I seen it in his earlier fights. Hector had to tone down the dirty tactics after the Loy fight but probably used them on Pernell. Besides being the accomplished boxer he's learned a fair amount of martial arts and unrestrained, who knows what he was really capable of.

I dont actually know, I never saw it but that is my guess. I just remember reading Hector was roughing him up until it got to the point Pea's handlers had to come to the rescue.

have a few more places to look and could take a week or even more. And no it wasnt Jimmy Paul and it was an eyewitness account.

Keep us tabbed on your search. It's great that Hawk over at CyberBoxingZone has every mag from the 80's because he will be able to confirm anything you find :good

Guys Camacho was badass when he was on.He dropped and embarassed Rameriez with EASE.He had speed to burn and he was mean. The Rosario fight ruined him as he got hit HARD and ever since then his performances sucked. He whipped Davis EASILY(they both weren't at there best)
By the time of Chavez Camacho was a mere talent of what he once was.
If Roger Mayweather outboxed Chavez for 10 rounds Camacho would have run rings around him.Mike Trainer-Leonards advisor said Camacho was the closest fighter in terms of talent in comparision to Ray Leonard.

Based on what? As if Roger Mayweather's boxing skills were shabby or something. Put a chin on him and he achieves more than Hector.

Also, explain to me why Rosario 'ruined' Camacho? Sounds to me that Rosario revealed a nasty secret about Hector: he didn't react too well to being hit hard.

That to me, is a character thing, not a Rosario thing.
