.............About ten years ago, I threw it out with about 300 others, collected through the 80's and early 90's. I did keep maybe a dozen, like the 1972 yearbook (covering the events of 1971), a couple others from the mid-70's.........
Though it's nothing as drastic as what you did, I did once throw out about 20 second hand boxing mags that I bought from a Melbourne sports memorabilia shop - out of a moving car that is. Ahh, anger....regrets.... :-(
Thanks. after reading what Sal Sanchez fan just said and Hawkins said, you can see how it's possible to lose issues. I lost maybe 20 or more issues to maggots, a few of them were key issues like an old Ring from 71-72 covering an article on Ali. I used to pick up many old magazines from stores where someone would just dump them off like they had no value. I've read about other incidents re hector's outside activities. I know I've read them but are had to find because I dont read the same issue again. There's another I read from the year before involving him in a fracus at a fight conference(?) where he was subdued by the other fighter's handler by headlock. I dont remember the issue it came from I just remember reading about it. And several years later another account describing how he was pulled over on a traffic stop early in the morning for driving erratically. He admitted to putting some girl on his lap having sex. Another time he was around Aaron Pryor at some get together, mid 80s. Aaron wasn't what he was, tired and worn out. one reporter goes up to him and starts a conversation then asks him 'what time is it?' and Hector cuts in with "it's time to get laid!" And regarding Mayweather, forget about him. Too weak in the legs, couldnt take it either. A fair boxer but crowd him and he folds like Mark Breland only sooner.
