You are truly an idiot. Chavez was WAAY past it when he fought Oscar, hell Chavez had been past it for a good 3-4 years prior to facing Hoya. And Oscar was in his prime. His absolute prime actually. The Chavez of 89-90 would have ripped Oscar a new *******.

And its funny how DLH had NO problem granting Chavez a rematch, yet he never was willing to give rematches to Whitaker, and Quartey.

this had become the most ridiculous thread of recent note. Camacho was a footnote at best, better than Paz not as good as Haugen. And not even in the same conversation as Whitaker and Chavez.

    Carry on my deluded fellow.

Next you'll be telling us that Manny Pacquiao proved he was a better welterweight than De la Hoya!

Hmm, I don't know how about these for some possible explanations:

    1. Speed is not the be all and end all of boxing. Only an idiot would think it was.
    2. Whitaker showed how advanced he was on everyone at the Olympics, dominating the field with ease.
    3. Maybe Camacho wasn't familiar with Whitaker's style and got bamboozled by it.
    4. Maybe Camacho was not at his peak for the sparring sessions (even though Manny Steward said that the sparring occurred when 'Camacho was at the top of his game'.)
    5. Maybe Whitaker was just a straight up better fighter than Camacho

Red, if I do track down all the mags from the period and nothing in them says that Camacho dealt with Whitaker what will you say then?

Whoa! The part about Haugen is a huge stretch. Camacho beat Haugen both times, he only lost the first fight cause he lost a point. And Camacho was farther removed from his prime than Haugen.

Both in thier primes, I cant see it being close. Camacho woulda beat Haugen going away.

Whitaker and Chavez beat any version of Camacho though.

Camacho was a great fighter, but Whitaker and Chavez are both top 20 atg's.

If only Manny has a match with Leonard somehow, an exhibition perhaps, and floors him with a mock punch, that ought to do it. He'll be telling us Manny Pacquiao is God.
