Camacho couldn't even bust up a known bleeder like Mancini. Watch the replays Mancini's face was completely unmarked no swelling no bleeding. Camacho ran like a punk for twelve rounds and was lucky to get the decision Camcho wasted so much of his talent with his inactivity and out of the ring Antics. He was a good fighter and had the potential to be even more then he was. OInce Rosario tagged him he became a safety first fighter and that just made him a dull boring fighter in my opinion
LMAO!! :rofl:rofl:rofl You've just admitted Hector never went on to have any of these so called big wins. Talk about claw in mouth :happy
How could Haugen face a puncher like Rosario tho, i consider him the hardest punching 135 in history. We're in agreement really, Rosario was my fave and i too think he would beat Haugen. I am just trying to point out Haugen has some sort of chance and is a bit better than some believe. He could cause some problems in there. My beloved Rosario also has his weaknesses, much to my chargrin back in the day. He was supposed to be the second coming of Roberto Duran, and i bought into a fair bit of it after his early performances. The mags had Rosario fave at either 8-5 or 9-5 i remember.
Keep me updated on the process. I'm sure if anyone has the relevant mag they'll speak up. JT and MDWC seem to be all up in the mags, so if they don't have it, it's likely not to pop up any time soon.
Camacho was a runner. He ran for his life against Chavez and De La Hoya. Leonard would win a a clear UD decision over him. I would not say it's out of the question for Leonard's blazing hands to topple Hector during the late rounds.
Robbi and JT will tell you it doesn't even exist. It exists but finding it will be a tall order because I lost a portion of my collection to maggots that were living in one of the boxes on a garage floor many years ago. They came from the bottom up and covered a few issues so I threw them out and stored the remainder above the floor. I havent even read the article since 1985. Evidently this article hardly got noticed. In fact, no one else seems to have seen it except me. Dont let Robbi or JT sway you. In the past, when my credibility was on the line, in the end my claims were proven correct. For instance, back in 2004 (before the join date shown) when I became a member, I was telling another poster here on ESB how the Wepner knockdown actually happened. None of the magazines ever did a good job of dispelling the rumour of a actual knockdown and naturally, anyone who hasnt seen the fight believes Wepner floored him. This has gone on for years that Wepner floored Ali. I told this person I had a video showing Ali in an extended interview and he pulls out a photo showing Wepner/s foot covering Ali's to which an irritated Ali complains of an incorrect ruling. They did replays repeatedly and a good closeup of the photo. People didnt take didnt take my word for it until another member (Wewasrobbed) told them it was a very well known photo at the time, and was the same photo I described and that ended the dispute. years later, JT spouted that until I had evidence I attended Hagler's sessions with the Weavers, that I should be taken as nothing more than a troll. He had no idea I had the photo lying on top of one of my speakers. I dusted it off and left it up for one night so he could see it and JT gave me the run around. He will lie straight up and claim a photo is not evidence even on the same night he was begging for it. He also dismissed my interpretation of the action even though the book, Sorcery at Caesar's describes to the same effect what I'd been describing. JT is upset over the way I reversed the situation on him and can't bear to swallow his pride. That's why his explanation changes all the time.
Can't hit what you can't touch. PS: Greg Haugen is the essence of mediocrity in the ring and could never win a big fight without major point deductions from his opponent.
So in other words, Camacho's fight with an aging mediocrity was so close that a couple of point deductions was the only difference between them.
The only one aging was hector. As one writer astutely wrote after it's conclusion: "Greg Haugen in his prime would not have laid a glove on Hector Camacho at his prime"
By 85 i'd scaled right back unfortunately. I have a handful but am highly unlikely to strike gold dammit.
JT is it still possible to order in old boxing mags or would you have to get them second hand? I notice ebay have heaps of mags from the 80's, that should probably be the first port of call. I would love to get to the bottom of this, and I'm not scared to shed a few quid to do it. The mags would be good to have in and of themselves, irrespective of this Whitaker-Camacho thing.
