Holmes wasn't robbed of victory and had been the recipient of some highly questionable decisions. He easily could have lost his belt to Witherspoon for example.

 

It's also perfectly reasonable for Marciano's family to point out Marciano was lineal and undisputed whereas Holmes was merely one among various belt holders.

Holmes never unified and missed out on many of the best possible opponents. Following 1983 its unlikely he was the best heavyweight in the world anyway.

 

This. I don't care what a guy's race is, since the best man will prove himself in the ring. Marciano proved during his fighting years that he was head and shoulders above his competition just like Louis and Dempsey did before him and Ali and Tyson did after him.
