Kantun again goes straight at Roman, Kantun takes a monster left then fires back, looks like Kantun is starting to be broken down but there is still plenty left in his tank, great burst from Gonzalez and not much coming back right now from Kantun, Kantun rocked on to his heels, clear Gonzalez round. 29-28
Kantun once again starts in the front foot. Seems clear he doesn't have the power to make Roman respect him and Gonzalez is continuing to slowly break him down, big left rocks Kantun, defense is taking a back seat and this is just a high octane toe-to-toe war, oddly it lacks the "drama" of the Guerrero/Rosas bout because Kantun simply can't hurt Gonzalez but it has just as much action, Kantun unloads a long series of shots on Gonzalez's gloves. 39-37
Kantun has a tactic to jump on Roman to start every round and he continues, this time Roman has decided to move up a gear and Kantun seems to realise he's in trouble. Gonzalez going to town on Kantun, Kantun with a nice counter but he's then punished for daring to make Gonzalez look a tiny bit silly, it's been a good effort from the Mexican but he's now going to need a thunderbolt to win as Gonzalez is starting to beat him up. What an offensive machine this kid is! 49-46
Kantun trying to box at distance, Gonzalez says "**** distance" and unloads, Kantun down, up quickly and notices he's cut, Gonzalez is in kill mode, Kantun down again. Ref calls it off as he gets up. Gonzalez gives the kid a hug and seems to genuinely admire the kids toughness. Gonzalez TKO6 Kantun might have been stopped but NO ONE will question his heart or toughness and I'd like to see him again. Great try kid!
c I was all set to do a RBR for this, starting at 11:30pm EST, which is when Azteca Siete was set to show it. (their broadcast is just underway; until seven minutes ago they were airing "Race To Witch Mountain" - some Disney movie starring The Rock - dubbed in Spanish...:! Everything on Twitter and Latino boxing news sites that I could find only mentioned the Azteca broadcast, which I had assumed would be live. The current time in Chiapas, Mexico is only 10:38pm. Apparently, however, Azteca is showing everything on tape delay, and it all took place two hours ago, shown live on Nicaraguan TV. :conf That would have been useful informationto be reported anywhere online earlier today.
Sounds it! :good I'll be keeping one eye on stupid Azteca's replay of the action twisted::twisted while covering Top Rank's card on Solo Boxeo.
They are starting with Luis Nery vs. Javier Cifuentes, 6 rounds @ bantamweight. After this will be Rosas vs. Guerrero, and of course Gonzalez vs. Kantun after that. Did you catch Nery vs. Cifuentes on the Nicaraguan feed, BP? Very weird...Nery is 10-0 (6) yet they fed him a guy making his pro debut? :huh I don't think Cifuentes is some kind of amateur star or anything, either - normal looking guy, a little pudgy, scrawny and very stubby arms...not even remotely athletic looking... Nery basically using him for target practice, halfway through. How does this get sanctioned?
I didn't catch that one, just the Rosas/Guerrero and Gonzalez/Kantun bout. For the guy who was modded early in the topic for illegal streams, it turns out what he posted was a LEGAL one put out by the Nicaraguan TV channel.
Alright, here comes the co-main event... Daniel Rosas vs. Rodrigo Guerrero, 10 rounds @ bantamweight ...:!:
