He's had 3 fights and turned 30 since I posted this.

    Still hasn't progressed at all.

He'll fight maybe two more times this year. If neither fight is anything significant, that's 2 of 3 years wasted. Which is a problem considering he has maybe 7, 8 years left before he's "old" and can't fight.

He has talent, but he's squandering it.

His promoter doesn't want to rush him that's the bottom line.

It took 4 years for Parker to get the title. It took 6 years for Povetkin to get the title. It took 7 years for Wilder to get his title. So why you want to rush Kuzmin?

It took 5 years for Haye to win his first Cruiserweight title. It took 4 years for Lenox to get his first title. So there is no need to rush Kuzmin.

He should be fighting more then. Those guys were also all younger when they reached that stage, Kuzmin is older. Compare his activity to someone like Fa who turned pro over a year afterwards. Hopefully Kuzmin fights 3-4 times more this year.

You compared to a guy who looked awful in his last fights.Besides, there are more dates for Fa because boxing is more popular in New Zealand than in Russia. Boxing in Russia is existing on pure enthusiasm.

Kuzmin is still in the development stage. And where is Fa? Looked awful in his last fights and looks like he will lose to the first top guy.

Even with more dates, Fa looks out of shape and out of motivation.

It's not about titles. I'm not asking Kuzmin to face Wilder tomorrow. I'm asking him to at least face like... top 50, top 100 guys.

Kuzmin is 2 years, 7 months into pro, and 30 years old with no notable wins.

Povetkin had beaten Chris Byrd, Eddie Chambers, and Larry Donald by 2 years, 7 months. He was 28 years old.

I'm not trying to hate on Kuzmin or saying his abilities are lacking. I'm saying there's a problem with where his career is going and he needs to fix it.

My personal favorite prospect is Teslenko, who's 24 and 1 year, 5 months into pro. In my opinion even he needs to step up pretty soon, at least a little bit, if I'm going to continue following him closely.

The recent interview with Sergey Kuzmin:

The next match of the defeated Russian super heavyweight Sergei Kuzmin (11 (8) -0-0) will take place by the end of November, and at the moment he is in Los Angeles, where the training camp is held. In the past battle, which took place on June 23 in the US, Sergei knocked out an experienced American, Malcolm Tann It is interesting to note that after the fight with Kuzmin, Tann went to the ring against the famous British Dillian White, also suffered an early defeat.

"Heavyweight bouts are planned for very interesting fights and, of course, I'm looking forward to the moment when I can get involved in the fight against the leading fighters of the division," Sergei shared with AllBoxing.Ru. - I hope that in the next match I will have a good opposition, and I will be able to show everything that we are working out in the training camp. My job as a professional boxer is to enter the ring and win by moving up in the rankings. Of course, we always want to achieve our goals as quickly as possible, but the realities of the industry are such that, apart from desire, time is needed, and sometimes a fortunate coincidence. At the same time, I have no doubt that hard work and focus on results will necessarily bear fruit. "

The Russian sportsman noted that the heavyweight champion is now an interesting situation and the two championship bouts scheduled for an autumn promise to be exciting. "In my opinion, we are waiting for two very interesting confrontations - Joshua-Pulev and Wilder-Ortiz," the boxer said. - Pulev and Ortiz did not accidentally become contenders for the championship belts and with the character of both full orders. I think in these fights we will see a real fight with high stakes and just no one will be in them. "

Last week, there was a fight for the WBO heavyweight title and, according to Sergei, there was not very much boxing in it. "Yes, I watched the fight between Joseph Parker and Hughie Fury and my opinion does not differ from the opinion of the majority of fans who found it not very spectacular," Kuzmin admitted. - Boxing there was a ten percent, but otherwise positional struggle and avoiding a fight from Hughie Fury. Fans always want to see the spectacle in the ring, so such battles are quickly forgotten. In turn, I hope that in the next year I will be able to come close to the fight for the title and do everything that depends on me, having shown spectacular boxing. "

P.S. Kuzmin is 22 in the new WBC ranks.
