Boxing promotional company World of Boxing staged a show at the famous Luzhniki Arena in Moscow on Monday November 27th with the main event being the WBC International Heavyweight Championship. The vacant crown was at stake in a much anticipated bout between hard-hitting Amir Mansour (23-2, 16 KO) and undefeated Sergey Kuzmin (11-0, 8 KO). Unfortunately the Championships ended into the third round when the two fighters collided head-to-head. Deep cuts were produced – one over the forehead of Kuzmin and another over Mansour’s right eyebrow. After consulting with ringside physician Vladimir Kurdhev, International referee Massimo Barrovecchio ruled the bout off . Time was 2:45 round three. The result was announced as a technical draw in agreement with our rules. The title remains vacant. http://www.maurowbc.com/category/latest-news/
Work will be done to organize a second fight between the Russian citizen Sergey Kuzmin and the American Amir Mansour , said the head of the promotional company "World of Boxing" Andrey Ryabinsky. The fight between Kuzmin and Mansour for the vacant WBC International heavyweight title, held on Monday in Moscow, ended in a technical draw due to the heads clash. "It is OK, it happens. Unluckiness: bumped heads. In fact, the battle did not take place. We'll work on making this fight in another show. But now they both need to think about their wounds, "Ryabinsky told reporters.
Dec 17 Sergei Kuzmin holds Zurab Kvitsiani's paws. Less than three weeks have passed since the fight Sergei Kuzmin against Amir Mansur, and Sergei Kuzmin, already in the boxing hall, not only started training to maintain the form, but also helps his younger teammate Zurab Kvitsiani in improving boxing skills. Kuzmin on Medzhidov: I have fought him two times. In first fight I beat him that was in 2008 Russian Students Championships and second time I fought him in European Championships and lost to him by a 2:1 decision. he has really strong punch, he hits very hard. The second fight was very emotional but judges thought that Medzhidov won.
Kuzmin on amateur fight against Joshua: I fought him in 2012, there was tournament in Hungary. I fought in the 2 round of the tournament. In first round I fought him against opponent from the Czech Republic and won in the 1 round. Physically I think Joshua was the same as now. After the World Championships he became known, he earned second place there. I started this fight with one thought that I have to win this fight. After the fight my trainer said, that this was like a bar fight. I think, I made a tactical mistake, I started to unleash on him and that was a mistake because it took a toll on the scorecard. Than I took a step back and started to move more. Maybe, he was better in some moments but I can't say that he has a hard, strong punch. I have fought against boxers who has a much stronger punch, strong like a hammer. Per instance people like Magomedrasul Medzhidov, he hits very hard. P.S. Kuzmin lost to Joshua by a 9:7 score.
He won't be a world champion, he's too basic and his footwork isn't good. Filip Hrgović might be though.
Doping test of Amir Mansour after the fight with Sergey Kuzmin gave a positive result. It became known that the American boxer Amir Mansur failed the test for doping, taken after the fight with Sergey Kuzmin. This duel was declared not valid, and the technical draw was canceled. Recall, November 27 in Moscow, a duel of undefeated Russian boxer Sergei Kuzmin against Amir Mansoor for the vacant WBC International heavyweight title, but the title was not played because of the mutual dissection received in the third round after an unintended collision with his head. Now the revenge with Kuzmin is questionable, as Amir Mansour awaits the decision of the World Boxing Council (WBC) for the positive doping test. Most likely, the American will likely receive the disqualification.
Two-time Champion of Russia, European Champion, Winners of the Cup of Oil Countries, and many other prestigious tournaments. On Sergei's account in amateur boxing, a victory over titled super heavyweights Victor Zuev and Eric Pfeiffer, as well as 2008 Olympic champion Roberto Cammarella and silver medalist of 2016 Joe Joyce, whom the Russian stopped in the 1st round, two wins over Ivan Dychko and has a victory over Medzhidov.
Almost seven minutes' worth? I'm not sure that fight deserved more than half a minute of "highlights", to be honest.
IMO - he really needs a 'name win' to get into the rankings. Mansour rematch would be good but not sure of Mansour's status now - if he's suspended or will be. Regardless ... with the amateur experience behind him and at 30, I don't see the point of him taking the Bogdan Dinu path and perhaps leaving it too late to step up. Any thoughts on who would be a good target for a higher level fight?
