Interview with Sergey Kuzmin before the upcoming fight:

    - In what form do you approach this fight? What is your state of health?
    - We prepared perfectly. I'm in very good shape and 100% ready to show in the ring everything that was in the camp and even more. Although my opponent was determined just a couple of days ago.

    - How difficult is it to prepare for a fight when the opponent changes at the last minute?
    - Actually, it is very inconvenient. Each competitor has to make certain adjustments to the training process. But we understand that we are engaged in professional boxing, where such moments periodically happen. I was ready for this and will not experience any crisis in a fight with a new rival.

    - What do you know about Keenan Hickman, about which there is not much information?
    - I recently watched his fights. He is a good, technical and trained boxer. He can not be called a puncher, but sometimes he finishes his fights ahead of schedule with a big advantage. I think that in this battle there will be worthy competition for me. Now every fight is very important, so I'll try to show an excellent boxing.

    - For you, this is the third fight in the USA. How do you meet the audience there and with what senses approach the battle on American soil?
    - Here all conditions for carrying out of excellent evenings of boxing are created. First of all, I want to hold more fights here, so that I have more fans. Although I have only a third fight here, I have them. Gradually, we are moving towards my goal - the world title. I think this title will not be far off.

    - With whom of the sparring partners do you work? Judging by the photos in social networks, there are interesting characters.
    - I will not name any particularly well-known names. In the photo on the Instagram, my sparring partner is a Mexican who helped Denis Lebedev before the fight with Murat Gassiev. There were also black Americans. This Mexican is a very strong guy, holding a blow well, but plans have been developed for the coaching staff to attack not only the head but also to work on the hull. We practised both floors - the body and the head.

    - Can we count on the early termination of the battle in a forthcoming battle with a dense blow to the hull?
    - Of course, you can count on this. I personally do not set myself the goal to go out and knock out. I set myself the task of getting out and practising eight rounds, and in these eight rounds, I will do everything to finish the fight ahead of schedule.

    - What do you want to fans on the eve of the fight?
    - I wish them to wake up early on Saturday, turn on TVs and watch our battles with Dmitry Bivol. I hope you like them and you will continue to be ill for us in the future. And also I wish to be engaged in boxing.

    Heavyweights – 8 Rounds

Sergey Kuzmin, Saint Petersburg, Russia (10-1, 6 KOs) vs Keenan Hickman, Baton Rouge, LA (5-1-1, 2 KOs)

In the first bout of the night Kuzmin dominated his causing the fight to be stopped at 2:30 of round three. Kuzmin knocked down Hickman with a powerful right hand in the second round. The effect of the punch appeared carry over to the third round where he continued his onslaught on a tough, game Hickman.

He destroyed Olympic Silver medalist Joe Joyce (possibly the best super heavy amateur in the world and soon to go pro) in 30 seconds! Kuzmin is the truth!

that was great. he needs to step up the competition and fight more often as a pro. he really doesn't have time to keep screwing around fighting guys with a 5-1-1 record any longer. he hasn't had more than three fights in a year. at the level he is fighting, he easily could have squeezed all ten bouts he has had into one year, instead of 2 1/2 years. he is 29 and will be past it before he gets anywhere if he keeps going at the present pace. time to wean himself from novice bums and fight four times a year.

He is being moved in the steady pace, he is in 27 place in the WBC ranks.Besides, why rush if he is 29 years old.

Why has Omarov not turned pro? He had even more professional upside than Kuzmin.

Well he is in WSB this season and he is still young enough to be an amateur. He actually was listed as a pro for few weeks by the Russian Boxing Federation but the after some time he was listed as a part of the Russian team in WSB.He wants to compete in next Olympic games.I think he will turn pro after the next Olympic games.
