175 along with Cruiserweight is tge most stacked divisions in boxing.

Even with the loss there are some great fights out there to be made for SK.

I said a while back that whilst I believe SK to of been the true champion of the division (obviously now it's Ward), I don't think he was the best (my personal pick is Gvozdyk).

Ward has got some good ATG resume making fights if he stays at 175.

Also I think Stevenson is a very tricky fight due to styles for Ward, very tricky and intriguing.

 

Gvozdyk has Top Rank behind him, I suspect that they might be willing to fork out the money to get the Ward fight if that's what they want.

No harm for Gvozdyk to fight a few more times first though, while he's already at a very high level he has been improving with every fight.

 

Said before that I'd pay to see that on PPV (but I'd want better undercard support than the crap they served on this one.) I agree that it's an intriguing fight.

Kova should probably fight a tuneup and then go after Beterbiev or Gvozdyk. Could probably make good money fighting either in Russia. And his clock is ticking.

 

Agree. He's a handful. If I had to buy stock in Gvozdyk or Beterbiev, I'd definitely go with Gvozdyk.

 

Funny you should mention SK'S clock.

Tbh I never realised he was 34, plus with his recent showings he have finally started to slip.

 

Maidana landed far more rabbit punches against Floyd than Ward landed low blows on Kovalev. I see you're already trying to trot out the "But Floyd was dirty too!" defense for Weeks in that fight. In that case, but Kovalev was headlocking Ward should allay any of your concerns about reffing in this fight.

 

LOL Floyd was dirty.

Only problem he had with Maidana was that Maidana didn't give two **** as to who he was.how dirty Floyd was and what refs let him get away with.

The Hatton fight showed just how dirty Floyd was and what refs let him get away with.

As for Kovalev headlock ing that was because Ward who is a notorious Goat impersonater was coming in low with his head, if was coming in at a correct height SK would have been unable to as you say headlock him.

 

Kovalev was looking to headlock Ward at time in both fights regardless of whether he was coming in or not. Heck a couple of times I saw him measuring for headlock, not a punch.

So thus, I think it's fair enough to write "Only problem Kovalev had with Ward was that Ward didn't give two shits as to who he was." Equally excellent reffing by Weeks across the two fights.

 

Weeks didn't referee both fights.

 

I meant he did just as awesome a job in Mayweather-Maidana 1 as he did in Ward-Kovalev 2.
