Firstly hats off to Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch for the fight! I just wanted to mention something after being genuinely exited and eager to watch this super 6 tournament kick off! The JT vs AA fight was won by a KO so you can't even talk about what should've or what could've been done by JT!! SAD SPORT OF BOXING: Everyone is entitled to their opinion but in the case of Foch vs Dirrell fight the judges and ref are entitled to judge fairly and evenly! I haven't seen the COMPU BOX numbers yet but watching the fight it was clearly a 2-1 connection edge for Dirrell. At no point in the fight was Dirrell hurt but yet Carl Froch was clearly hurt 2 times in the fight! Dirrell grabbed/lean alot but Froch was very dirty intentionally through out the whole fight(Froch admitted it). The ref deducted a point from Dirrell for leaning on Froch but allowed Froch to continue hitting behind the head through out the fight!? Dirrell made Froch miss constantly while Dirrell connected frequently to the head and body! If you wanted to be biased to either fighter you could reasonably give the fight to Dirrell 10-2 or Froch 6-6(tie)!! I hate to use the word Robbery when a gun isn't involved LOL! but a TRULY in-just decsion!! EVEN SADDER FANS I read through a lot of the post and threads and the one thing that was apparent is that the Froch fans had every excuse why Dirrell should've lost but not ONE person mentioned why Froch should have WON! Not one Froch fan said Froch hurt Dirrell, not one Froch fan said Froch hit Dirrell with a lot of shots yet they say that Dirrell "ran" from Froch and forget to mention that while Dirrell "ran" he was hitting Froch in the face and body!! It seems as if "fans" are more racially, culturaly, regionaly, nationaly blinded or driven when watching fights!! Let the Best man win!!! PS: In the 90's i was big HW fan and I liked George Foreman! If any of you Euro/German fans remember the Foreman vs Shulz fight you have a taste of what in-just boxing is and I was totally disgusted with that decission!! Alex Shulz clearly beat Foreman and was "robbed"
great post.. the majority know how to score a fight.. you just get the odd few who must've watched a different fight..
This is actually a decent post from a non-regular. It's the first I've seen today. Most people, even those who agree with this, have put it in such moronic ways that it's hard to take them seriously as.....well, human beings.
The basic answer is that they were both awful. Froch was hugely ineffective and to summarise pretty much did nothing. Dirrel did too much falling over, holding and showed little or no aggression for long periods. I missed the first 4 rounds but felt Dirrel probably shouldve won, but it was such a negative performance in so many respects that im not particularly fussed they gave the fight to Froch.
I don't see how you can either have 10-2 to Dirrell or 6-6 and say it's reasonable. It's either wide or it's close - not both at the same time. it was a dreadful, boring, close fight. Dirrell could have taken it clearly, but he didn't want to push on. He still fights like an amateur and all that holding clearly turned the judges off.
Me too got turned off by too much holding and running by Dirrell (I also criticized Floyd for doing such things) but remember that the referee deducted a point on Dirrell for too much holding... He was already penalized for it and the judges should not introduce subjectivity in their scoring because they're turned off by the holding and running... The guy has been deducted a point already... Dirrell (and Floyd) is still fortunate there's no point deductions for too much running... With all that said, I still think that Dirrell won that fight based on total punches landed... .
:roll:this post right here is an example, of a sad fan!! Dirrell clearly one and a fuss should be made!!!!!
