I'm still shocked at the utter lack of professionalism on display last night. Shocked. He went out early, he went out cold, he wasn't greased up, the fight itself was abysmal. Add that to a rift in camp and you've got a total shambles with nobody controlling matters. Ricky openly dissented against Graham pre- Floyd fight, refused to box as Graham asked and then after allegedly sidelining him against Lazcano he sacked him And now he's fallen out with Floyd who was quick to hint that the training was in his opinion not up to scratch and that Ricky wouldn't listen to him. It seems he was sidelined too by the end of camp. People will point the finger at Floyd but there is a pattern emerging here and it's Ricky at the centre of it. In my opinion all this makes Graham look a bigger man, he's kept his counsel, when the truth might just be that Hatton has become an untrainable monster. He was always losing that fight last night but he gave himself no chance of even making it competitive. It looks like the same old story of a fighter getting too big for their boots, surrounding themselves with yes men and deserting the people who helped make them.
It could have been Hatton at his best and he still would have been flattended because the truth is that the boy was never that good. He's a world class fighter but just a good one. You can really pick apart Hattons career and this loss to Pacquiao is terrible.
You could tell something was up, his entire family looked nervous pre-fight, especially his fiance she was in tears before the fight had even started
I agree with the thrust of your argument - he is simply not in the class of Floyd and Pac. After Tszyu we didn't know how good he could be. But five years on we do. No shame in that. And he would've lost to Pac every time Tuffie but you really telling me Hatton at his best loses like that? I don't think so, I honestly don't.
Because they knew there boy wasnt good enough. No point in blaming the camp Hatton just simply wasnt and never has been good enough. Belief isnt enough in this game. You bare your soul when you enters those ropes. Watching Hatton vs Pac was like watching a caveman with his bow an arrow vs a Sherman Tank. The WBU years finally caught. I for one feel very exhonerated.
Twice he made the step up. Twice he failed miserably. When 140 was stacked 8 years ago Hatton fought NO ONE in the top 140. He went for the big cheese and fought a fighter who had one foot in retirement and has been living off that win ever since. Lazcano Urango Mallinaggi etc are NOT the path to glory. Look at Manny's last 6 opponents bearing in mind he's a flyweight moving up and then look at Hattons. Its shambolic.
A simple look between Tyszu and Pacquaio tells you everything you need to know about Hatton's greatness. If the best you can manage is a KO over a completely shot Castillo and victories against no-hopers like Urango and Malignaggi then you can't think you'll beat a genuine prime elite like Mayweather and Pacquiao. And surprise, surprise - he didn't. I'm glad.
I agree that this puts the lid on Hatton's level - as do the fights you've mentioned plus Castillo who was also shot and a lightweight and Maussa who was one of the worst champions I've ever seen. He got hurt by Lazcano, Urango and barely survived against Collazo too. To have made that much money and had that many big fights here and in the US is hardly shambollic though. Fair play to him for going over there several times and laying it on the line against PBF and Pacman even if on both occasions he fell so short.
It's not shambolic. It is what it is. The record of a world level operator who was a bit short at the true top level. He's only lost to two all time greats but he lost comprehensively both times. He isn't close to that kind of class. Your argument that he dodged everyone when 140 was stacked is a joke. Stacked with who?
Hatton was caught and knocked out, it happens sometimes when you are dealing with fighters the level of Paciquao. We know there were rumours pre fight about trouble in the camp, maybe that did cause problems, I do not know. But it should not take away from an awesome performance by Manny, and Hatton now has to decide where to go from here. To comeback with all them Millions in the bank will be hard.
I thought he should've quit after Floyd, but fair play, he wanted another go He'll never get a clearer answer than he got last night - he won't achieve any more than he already has Time to quit
He wasn't caught - he was timed. Manny just had the speed, the tools and the space to make Hatton pay. That was one of the worst performances I've seen by a British fighter. No head movement, no lateral movement - he just walked on in and got laid out.
Ricky could have entred covered from head to toe in axle grease, wearing thermal long lohn johns and dripping with sweat, and would still have been beaten by a better fighter. I'd like to see him fight Khan though, that could be very interesting.
Go and have a look at the "Rings" rankings and the article they ran on the 140lb division 8 years ago. When you`ve done that you come see me. Fair weather fans.
Nah I'll stick to my own judgements rather than regurgitate what the Ring tells me, cheers all the same Do you even know what fair weather means?
