Are the type that said that Tyson Fury was an overrated fraud that shouldve lost to Ngannou. Cant have it both ways Cant act like beating an overrated fraud in a competitive fight (yes it was a competitive fight) makes you the best
Incredibly noteworthy accomplishment, impressive and unique but very beatable opponent, gutsy and skilled but not unrivaled level of performance, very shaky and over-the-top fan reaction. Even Teddy Atlas got on an EE's dong for this one, and spoke about Usyk in as a glowing a terms as I would've ever imagined from him. I wonder how long it will take for him to start saying he needs to move down to light heavyweight to be as great as the old time American fighters, or some really left-field thing.
Fury isn't a fraud, he's just wildly inconsistent. If he doesn't feel threatened by a boxer he'd basically roll out of bed on fight day and that's his training. He basically fights to the level of his opposition.
If you consider 2 rounds, which was in all reality what Fury did in this round and won, competitive, than okay. Ring Magazine don't agree with you obviously. And you can nitpick anyone and any resume if you want to go that mental road.
Usyk is p4p number 1 right now. And he has great accomplishments of unification all belts at cruiser and beating 2 very good if not great heavyweights. He’s not the goat. He’s not Robinson, Greb, Armstrong etc. he doesn’t have that body of work. But he is quite special. Just enjoy it.
Usyk has been P4P #1 since 2018 & when he retires I don't want to hear about P4P ever again. He's completed it. There is no P4P after Usyk. Just a vapid black hole of wannabe's.
Flip floppers. These are the same people who before Fury fought Ngannou said Fury would win by early right KO. Ngannou did better than expected and then they jumped on the Ngannou hype train. These same people then said Ngannou would hurt Anthony Joshua. Joshua wins easily and then they jump back on the Joshua hype train. These are the same people who said Joe Joyce would knock out Zhang because Zhang is old and slow. Zhang wins and now they jump to the Zhang hype train. These are the same people who said Wilder would knock out Parker. Parker wins and now they jump to the Parker hype train. In realize Tyson Fury was always a media made hype train. Lol the talk about how big he is when there have literally been 100's of 6'7 boxers through the years and until recently nobody cares. The pretend skill level this guy is suppose to have but then he can't even land 30 percent of his punches in most fights and still throws slapping arm punches. Usyk beating Fury means nothing. It is like Deontay Wilder winning the "Title" From Bermaie Stiverne or Charles Martin winning the title from whatever the name guy he beat . Having a belt doesn't mean anything when the era you are in is so bad. The heavyweight division is the worst division in boxing and has been that way since Lennox Lewis retired and I don't see it getting any better. Usyk isn't a top level fighter at heavyweight. He is just lucky to be in such a weak era. Even in this weak era he rarely gets in the ring so how can you even say he is the best heavyweight even now? Because he beat Joshua a hype job and Fury a hype job? Who says he could even beat Kabayel? This guy jsut stopped 2 supposed top level undefeated guys and did it easily.
Fury barely did any training for the Ngonnou fight. This was Fury 6 weeks out from the Ngonnou fight. You can tell he was wildly out of shape and half-assed his training camp. Against Usyk, he was clearly in shape and took it seriously. Regardless, Usyk beat the 2 best heavyweights in boxing and became undisputed. No one can ever take that away from him... maybe except for the IBF. This content is protected
Fury is an overrated underachiever but definitely not a fraud. The contrast between his talent and his resume is significant. Fury fans claim he's a career heavyweight, yet he still only has, what, seven world title fights, three of those against the same opponent. Usyk already has four title fights, including three defences, equalling Fury in this achievement. Don’t tell me that Fury shouldn’t have had many more title fights and defences than that, especially since the very same Fury fans keep saying how inactive Usyk is. How come a jumped-up, inactive little middleweight already has as many title defences as the greatest fighter of all time, whom no man born from his mother can beat? Also, just look at the quality of opponents they defended their titles against. For Fury, it's Wilder, Whyte, and Chisora. For Usyk, it's Joshua, Dubois, and Fury. It's not even close; Usyk’s defence run is much stronger, complete with the two guys who were universally considered the absolute peak of the division until Usyk came along. So no, Fury is not a fraud, but in terms of what he could have done with the physical gifts and talent he possesses, his resume and legacy are wafer-thin. But that’s totally different from the fact that it was a huge achievement for Usyk to unify all the belts against a guy that talented and that much heavier than him. So let’s not mix these two notions up.
Almost no one said this until Usyk beat Joshua. Lomachenko was considered better until he lost to Lopez
People silently recognize Fury's greatness, so they give Usyk praise for beating him. People also loudly hate Fury for personal reasons, so they **** on Fury for losing and claim he was never good. People are fickle and stupid. This is not news.
I don’t recall many people calling Fury a fraud, it was that he embarrassed the sport by getting beaten up be a MMA fighter because he didn’t train for it.
If you actually look a bit further into it they are also the exact same people who felt Mike Tyson was the number 1 HW in the world when he beat Spinks.
