As a Triple G fan, Iman and Spence Jr have never recieved anywhere near the hype Triple G has gotten.

Iman was always in my mind nothing special and I think people just though maybe since this is Don King's last known guy he might turn out to be something.

Now let me take you to task when it comes to Errol Spence Jr. People know he's only a prospect and has yet to prove himeslf, but he has shown talent and people see that. Any great prospect gets that sort of hype before they've proven anything. As one poster wrote above, he gets MENTIONED with not compared to Mayweather because he was able to hold his own and cause Mayweather some trouble when they spared. Why are you comparing him to Canelo??? Canelo turned pro when he was just 15. Spence turned pro when he was almost 23, a near 8 year gap. Not C+?? The last two guys he's faced both were NEVER knocked down, let alone stopped and Spence destroyed them.

His age is a built in defense mechanism. If he losses to a younger guy they will say time did it. In the eyes of fans who did not have a hero that they could relate to for quite some time, the excuse train will roar out of the station as soon as he taste defeat.

I still don't know why Kovalev does not get half the hype Gennady gets?:huh It's really weird that he is the most accomplished of the 3 E.E. hyped fighters but gets the least amount of attention. He had to fight in Canada to get hype, imagine that. His Las Vegas fight was near empty.

Less glittering AM career and he's been down in the pro ranks - thus looked a little vulnerable. Harsh I know (I love Kova) but that's the most likely reason

    1. I do understand the point of this thread, this thread is basically a diss against people who like black fighters but hate GGG but the thread starter named two black dudes who are nowhere near as hyped as GGG. His point of bringing up GGG with Spence/Errol is garbage just off of that alone and so are attempts at defending a terrible comparison. Errol and Spence combined together are not even as hyped as lesser fighters such as Adrien Broner let alone GGG.

    2. My second point went over your head. If Errol had sparred Mayweather and gotten his ass kicked no one would compare. But he held his own. What don't you understand? It's not about the sparring itself, it's about the results which gained Errol respect. GGG fans bring up GGG with Mayweather but GGG has literally no real-life or in-ring experience or sample with Mayweather WHATSOEVER. Errol Spence comparisons with Mayweather are not out of thin-air whereas GGG comparisons with Mayweather are invented literally because both fighters are/were good and undefeated at the same time.

Let's get its right this is a racial thing and the racism has to stop. They support Wilder fighting bums yet Golovkin is avoided so he gets critics.

No, you don't understand. The same guys who hated on GGG for being hyped are doing the hyping for guys like Imam, that's the point...

Same people who say it's OK for GGG to offer a catchweight fight to Ward because GGG is the A side say Canelo is scared because he offers a catchweight fight to GGG.

What I find insulting is accomplished fighters like Thurman and Brook call out Floyd and are told they have to fight Spence like Spence is some proven top guy and Floyd goes ahead and fights Berto

Well Canelo has the belt at the weight GGG fights at

GGG is asking for a catch to fight the guy a weight above, not exactly the same thing is it?

Mayweather must have been really impressed by Spence after their sparring session.

yes but does that really mean that a reigning belt holder or a former belt holder who scored a big win over Broner need to prove themselves vs a guy whose done nothing in the pro ranks so far?

Not really anti Spence but I found it absurd that Floyd chose Berto over 2 obvious challenges that publicly said they wanted the fight

Of course it's the same thing. Why offer a fight to Ward at 164 when he knows Ward can't make that weight? Because he wants an advantage against Ward, who he feels he can't beat at 168. GGG also feels he deserves the advantage because he's the more popular fighter.

Same thing with Canelo. Canelo wants an advantage because he doesn't feel he can beat GGG at 160. Canelo feels he deserves the advantage because he is the more popular fighter. How is it not the same situation?

While Imam and Spence don't get near the widespread hype as GGG, I agree with the sentiment of this thread, I've seen many of the same posters who call GGG a bum on more than a few occasions turn around and say Imam and Spence are potentially future ATG's.

Ward is a super middle, well actually he hasn't fought there in about 2 yrs so GGG has a guy 1 to 2 weights above him and asked for a catchweight. I myself would prefer it at 168 but they aren't the same weight

Alvarez won the 160lb title the weight GGG competes at but wants to defend the title against him the mandatory at a weight below the limit of the weight he holds the title in

I don't see how your not getting this
