The saying doing the weight properly

    Swimming has less impact on the joints and is a good challenge (try running in a pool and see)

    It does seem excessive (and not practicable) for your average palooka, but PBF does them and is where he is, so... :conf

    It may be another sort of thing like Marquez with his urine or Archie Moore sucking on raw ground hamburger, where the actual benefits the boxers themselves believed they were attaining from it are dubious but it makes them believe they have an edge, in a placebo effect manner. So if Mayweather thinks his doing three-a-days is beneficial in setting him apart from the rest, and that confidence aids hhim in winning, I'd say doing them is beneficial, at least for him.

    I know that, But it's good to get a variety AND get stronger and more agile. Swimming doesn't allow that.

    True, but his over-training is leading to his poor performances.

    I bet Ariza slices his work schedule in half. There is ZERO need for a man with a tremendously low punch-output AND defensive style to do THREE boxing sessions A DAY. None at all.
