"Bernard 'the Scavenger' Hopkins found a fight he thinks he can win. Avoided Dawson and now think Pascal is right there for him."

The scavenger of boxing has already miscalculated once (Calzaghe) - I wonder if this is another good observation for the weakest prey with a belt or is his judgment failing him this time?

So Pascal is now dead meat?, wasn't he getting insane amount of credit from you guys right after his win?. Why is he worthless now?, did he lose another fight I missed in the past week?

I think he is quite good. The point is not whetehr he is good or not - the point is that Hopkins has a good eye for 'overrated' so that he can get the max out of his efforts. So you are right - Pascal was "getting insane amount of credit" - and that insane amount is why Hopkins is interested, because I think he thinks Pascal is getting more praise than warranted. Whether that is true or not is the question.

Turns out Hopkins is no different than most fighters of this era. They all pick and choose fighters with clear weaknesses or that they just know they can beat. Only a few true warriors like cotto and Mosley fight guys with clear advantages over them. They paid the price but they helped solidify their legacies.

How can wanting to fight the top lightheavyweight in the world be considered "scavenging?"

I think Hopkins age has caught up with him. He looked horrid in beating a shot to pieces RJJ. Pascal is no Ornelas...

Who did Cotto fight that had "clear advantages" over him exactly? Everybody knows Cotto fights anybody but he was regarded as the favorite over Margarito and would have won that fight quite easily if he had clinched. Against Pacquiao he held more tangible advantages than Manny did despite the outcome. Other than that there's nothing, so this is void basically.

Considering hes going to fight the guy that just beat the one everyone claims he ducked, i dont see the problem.

The guy shouldnt even be fighting, and hes fighting one of the top light heavyweights in the world.... im kinda boggled how this can come under any sort of criticism.

When he fought Mosley, mosley was supposed to have

    The speed advantage
    The power advantage
    The experience advantage
    The chin advantage

Not quite sure what advantage Cotto brought to that fight other then better skills :huh

Would you guys be happier if he starts clamoring for a match vs Dawson after he just lost to Pascal?

Pascal is no Pavlik, but he has glaring weaknesses Hopkins sees and likes. Whether or not he can actually take advantage of them enough over 12 rounds remains to be seen. I have my doubts when it comes to the 2010/75 year old version of Hopkins.

If Hopkins is a "Scavenger", He is the most successful "Scavenger" in boxing history. IMO he can beat Pascal and Adamek right now. And to be honest, if he shows up and beats Pascal's ass, I could see him going after the ultimate coward in Haye. Go "Scavenger" go!!!

lmao... How about not being well past his prime and running hot and cold every other fight?? Cotto was peak PRIME. Mosley was not. Clearly. And Cotto was the one alleged to have a power advantage, although it's fair to say Mosley was expected to have greater speed. That was the rumor.

All in all the Mosley fight isn't even worth mentioning. Please don't think I forgot about it, my friend.

dont you guys understand that there has never been such a thing as a great fighter. every one is over rated, protected, washed up, chinny, one dimensional, cheating, ducking, running, fat or a fukin bum.
i had no idea that challenging the number 1 LHW in the world could be seen as cherry picking:?:-:)patsch
