For me Ali was the fastest overall, but Patterson probably had slightly faster hands and Tyson had very fast hands and feet!
Patterson was faster than Ali. Ali is second. Tyson and Dempsey come close. Handspeed that is. Footspeed, Ali was the quickest. Tunney wasn´t far away and Dempsey was pretty fast too in his prime.
Either Floyd Patterson, Michael Dokes, or Mike Tyson. If Greg Page was more consistent, he'd be in the conversation.
I would say the most effective hand speed came from Joe Louis. He was able to get in multiple punches that had more a effiecent/devistating effect on fights that Ali, Tyson, and Paterson. Abstract hand speed (A single punch thrown in the air miss or land). I might go with Louis as the second fastest puncher. It is hard for me to imagine Tyson or Patterson getting home a straight right as fast at Louis.
The fastest fighter per hand speed, esp. in delivering combos has to be Patterson, with Ali a close second, but the most devastating speed/power has to be Louis/Tyson..and the differences in speed here among all those mentioned are very slight..Louis, I would say had the greatest speed/power ratio with Tyson close behind. Foot speed of course goes to Ali..
well in actual hand speed patterson might have almost been faster..but ali had faster feet...so i would give the nod to ali overall
