Yeah, if the straight ones are piston-like and true power shots they're going to be harder to throw fast than an arm punch. Patterson is probably my number one at the weight for hand speed, but Ali is the faster man in general.

Evander Holyfield's total body....speed is underrated.

He had better movement than Mike Tyson, and could throw combinations just as fast in my opinion.

Look at him against Valeuv at 46 years of age, not many heavyweights would of been able to fight that type of fight against Valeuv.

A young and in prime David Haye was fatigued fighting the same kind of fight.

Don't read through the "which fighters had underrated hand speed" thread then.

Patterson is the fastest heavyweight ever. Ali is two and Tyson is probaly three, but Tyson may have been just as fast as Ali or faster.

Define 2nd fastest. If you add in footwork and hand speed, Corbett, Patterson, and Tyson should rate. Speedy fighters like Chambers, and Bruce Seldon were also very quick, though obviously not great.

    Rocky Marciano.

    Bye! :hi:

No, but seriously. Valuev is ridiculously fast. However, he's the victim of a weak era. The man's never had to use his A-game in a fight. Kinda like Mayweather in that way. We don't know what he's REALLY capable of. There just isn't anybody that's gonna force him to take it there. He definitely fights to his level of competition. Why? At his core, he is a peaceful giant. Valuev in training is a man possessed. Anyone who's seen him in sparring knows full well why Vitali's avoiding him...

    It's the crunkercut.

    Heavyweight Champs with quick hands...

Ali, Patterson, Roy Jones (only 1 fight though), Tyson, Charles, Byrd, Holyfield, Louis, and Jack Johnson come to mind.

    Honorable mention...

Bowe, Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Morrison (WBO), Michael Spinks, and Toney (WBA Champ for a minute)

#1? I can only narrow it down to 5... Ali, Patterson, Tyson, Charles, and Jones (why not?).

#2? How about guys like Byrd, Louis, Johnson, Walcott, and Holyfield?
