I find it absolutely amazing that some people have the nerve to call a professional fighter a coward, especially someone like Miguel Cotto. I bet most of them haven't stepped foot in a ring in their lives either.

I would say Cotto wanted to quit and he wanted his corner to throw in the towel but he got back up even the second time. I see what you are saying though OP.

Who in this thread called him a coward? I have seen Floyd called a ***** and all but I don't think anyone called Cotto a coward.

That's basically what they are saying or it seems that way anyway.

If it's not then I apologise but calling him a quitter is on the same kind of lines in my opinion.

Don't be so amazed in this thread. I haven't called Cotto a coward. And I have stepped into a ring.

I didn't even said Cotto was a quitter. But he had a quitter's attitude in the last round.

At the end of the day you have to be honest Cotto fans and Mayweather haters. Cotto quit in the fight. That doesn't mean he sucks, but it does make him a quitter. Duran quit before, Freitas is a quitter as well. It doesn't mean they have no skill and in Duran's case it doesn't mean they have no heart. I think Cotto's heart should be questioned though, atleast until he removes all doubt in his following fights. Kermit was asked questions by Margarito's pressure and it destroyed him, but when he had his rematch he went out fighting. I don't know if Cotto will get the opportunity to face down Margarito again but until he goes through adversity again and chooses to fight instead of look for a way out, I'll say he is a quitter. Plain and simple.

It was his fight to lose, he had points, all he had to do was find a way to keep on fighting.

    This is only your opinion.

Still, his best win until 2006 was Kermit Cintron.

He got up, right. But still he took a knee twice in that round and the second time was weird: he wasn't even defending himself and simply went down when Margarito was close. I think that can't be ignored. It isn't particularly normal to do that in a fight.

Cotto had taken a beating and didn't want to continue. Who cares?

    End of thread.

Yea it's part of boxing. It's not so common, though, when it is done twice in the same round. Especially because Cotto wasn't even defending himself and wasn't even touched by Margarito (the second time) before going down.

Is not normal!!! are you serious. So is better for a boxer to take unnecessary punishment and end up like W. Benitez than to take a knee. I think this shows how ignorant you are.

People who are trying to evaluate whether he is a quitter or not.
