before the second round shane was following a gameplan, he was jabbing to the body and head, throwing combos and tying floyd up, yeah of course floyd adjusted but after the second round mosley was trying to land that big right hand all night long, nazim even told him at one time to quit looking for that perfect punch because it doesn't exist you gotta outwork him. this is the most nervous i've ever seen mosley fight, he was jittering and jumping up and down.
the fact that he landed big in second was his biggest mistake he seemed like he knew he couldnt box floyd so tried for the ko and it brugh mayweather onto the front foot and shane had no answer to the speed ,accuracy and power (yes power)
Agree. I've started a similar thread here: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=223496 It was as if in that 2nd round where Mosley hurt him, he was sorry for awakening a beast. He was hopeless
Mayweather Sr for once was right about the outcome of a fight. You use the word jittery which is what Sr had said is how shane fights. Shane has no natural rhythm when he fights, he to use to fighting brawlers instead of boxers. He was landing nice jabs to the body and in some respects was picking his shots well. Then floyd did the unthinkable and left himself wide open. Floyd briefly buckled and Mosley got so excited that the game plan went out the window. He went from jabbing to body to not jabbing at all. He was winding up for one big shot all night that he didn't even try to set it up. Did you notice when floyd was standing in front of shane when shane was near the ropes how jittery shane was. He was almost pleading for mayweather to throw a punch so he can counter with another BOMB. When mayweather refused to do so, Shane had to reset his feet and mayweather immediately picked him off with the jab. But notice when floyd refused to throw how upset shane got with himself.
yep i agree mosley landed 3 big shots that round and they were all set up by jabbing and feinting to the body
Like Lampley once said, "Fighting Floyd Mayweather is a dose of cold reality". Reality set in for Mosley after round 3. Mosley had Mayweather hurt in round 2 relatively bad. However, Mayweather came right at him in round 3 and proceeded to whoop his ass. That was the end of the fight right there. If you're Mosley and you think of yourself as the bigger, stronger fighter, and you think that you're fighting a guy that is unwilling to engage, then that has to **** with you. Richardson, was right. Shane hit Floyd in the mouth and Floyd turned into a dragon. Unfortunately for Shane, he had no answer for the dragon version of Floyd.
He fought that kind of fight against Cotto but still made it close cause Cotto is much easier to get hit. No one is ever gonna beat Floyd by throwing one or two punches at a time.
:yep Richard knows that floyd like to sand bag, he will give up one or two rounds to see what you got then adjust from there.
Shane thought he was going to get the ko. he got overanxious threw his plan out the window and started throwing hayemakers. he may have punched himself out
that was his problem in the cotto fight imo in terms of gameplan,he clearly went into the fight expect to knock cotto out earlier & gassed himself trying & when it didnt happen he was kinda lost.last night he seemed to start with the right idea but then when he hurt floyd regressed into loadin up on everything & was throughly outclassed.
All the second round did was make Mayweather pissed. He took Shanes best shots and was ready to go after that. Did you see Mayweather on the stool between rounds 2 and 3. He looked ok but to make sure he was aware Roger went to pour a lil water on the back of floyds neck, but Mayweather quickly was like stop im good. He showed me right then that he was ok and ready to go back out and fight, and fight he did.
