Vitor Belfort just got on board and will already take front and center. At least that’s what UFC president Dana White wants. Impressed by the Brazilian’s convincing display against Rich Franklin Saturday night, the organization’s top dog believes the “Phenom” has what it takes to face current middleweight champion Anderson Silva. “The question I asked myself for this fight was: ‘Which Vitor will we see? The explosive Vitor who goes for it, or the hesitant Vitor who doesn’t pull the trigger?’ He pulled the trigger tonight and as soon as he hit Franklin he went for the kill,” raved White.
At the post-event press conference, Vitor revealed what path he took for the win. “My latest weapon I’ve added to my game is karate. It’s something I wanted to use. I waited for the right moment. I was feeling the fight. Right when I saw something, I knew it was the right address. I don’t like to waste things,” he said.
“Some times I wait a bit, others I’m aggressive. But when I get started, I’m sure I’m going on the attack. That’s what people want to see,” he added.
Completely adapted to his new (old) home, Vitor guarantees his time will come. “As the Bible says, the glory in the second house is greater than in the first. I’m ready to get there. No one can take that from me. God is helping me, and I will receive,” he said in closing.

I'm sure we'll see more Karate being implemented in MMA in the future. It is highly effective if one understands how to apply it.

ufoalf is saying what I'm thinking.

Karate can be effective for the right fighter i.e. an athletic counter puncher.

Kind of hard to differentiate a karate left hand from a boxing left hand.

He punched him in the face; describe it however you want.

I think he was referring to the timing in which he initiates an attack.

That's my point. He's used superior striking, period.
It looked a lot like superior boxing. W/e he did with karate only could've played for his set up, which again looked a lot like smart boxing/kickboxing.

If Belfort said his secret was drinking **** - after this past weekend's performance I wouldn't be surprised to see half the dojos in the country drinking pee.

I'll never be a fan of someone who uses kicks to score points and not set anything up or hurt your opponent.

You do realize that Machida KO'd Sokodoujo, Alves, and Evans? Are these not hurtful KO's?

Listen, his fighting style sucks ass. It's boring as ****. He's not an exciting fighter and I'd rather see 2 tier walterweights fight than Machida. It's not a matter of logic, it's a matter of me not liking how he fights. Once Shogun kicks his head off it will be the most exciting thing Machida has done.
