Is it a sign of a great fighter if he can have an off night and still pick up the win? In football in the UK you play 38 games in a season and normally the best team wins the league but it is possible for them to lose 5 games playing poor,Hatton has been slated for the Callazo fight but i dont think a 43-0 record can be dissmised as a fluke? We all have a bad day at the office but a true champ is made by how they handle the low points. what do you guys think?
I think a great fighter is one that comes back from their setbacks stronger, is able to develop their style to compensate as they get older and don't have the same youthful talents, and yes - can still pick up a win during an off-night.
They play a lot more games in the EPL than a boxer fights. Many clubs will play over 50 games over the course of a season. A boxer can't afford to have an off night, he spends 12 weeks or so preparing for one specific fight, knowing he could never get a rematch. He might have an "off day" in the gym, but the rest of his training is designed to get him in optimal condition come fight night. Furthermore, it's an individual sport, there's no hiding behind your teammates like in football. I don't think any serious boxing fan dismisses a loss (any loss) as "just an off night".
Ali,Mayweather,Duran and B-hop all had bad days at the office and came back to shine,i heard a few people say in a post today that B-hop should be p4p no1,what a load or crap that is though, anybody who wants to be all time great should not lose to a average talent like Taylor,to lose once is an off day to lose twice is a ****ing disaster!
