It just doesn't get much more strange than that. Just goofy. To demand your opponent make a weight 5 pounds from the normal weight limit.

    Weird.

Uhhh no it isn't, it's the Canelo weight.

Yes, it is insane that anyone would support it.

Umm no actually most athletic commissions allow both fighters 1lb in a non title fight, 155 is still a JMW fight.

Not when you have the MW belts? Why is that so hard to comprehend?

He's an island unto himself at 155. An island no one wants to join him at lol.

As people have been saying, it's absolutely ridiculous to even begin to support it. What's the reasoning behind it?

The dude held the title for all of one fight?
I'm not a fan of cw but I can't hate for trying to defend at the same weight you won it at
    Cotto-Canelo was at 155 not 160

But after he won, he's the champ and defends for the 160 POUND CLASS, not 155 POUND CLASS.

It's clearly a tactic as Canelo can boiled down and rehydrate like no other guy,the fact he won't step on the scales come fight night against much smaller guys should tell us everything,my mind boggles how he does it?

Is this seriously your argument? Because he defended at 155 all of a sudden it became a weight class that every body should abide by?

Come on man, even you don't believe that...
It's a one man weight class lol

First off who is everybody? As far as I know Alvarez has never fought at or tried to fight a MW.

If Lara came out tomorrow and offered Thurman a fight for his WBA 154 title at a 148 cw, and Thurman won though the circumstances would suck I couldn't hate on Thurman for not fighting at 154 when he's never fought there.

As far as GGG who is probably the main point of this thread was told before Cotto and after Cotto if you wanna fight at 154/55 we can fight next wanna fight at 160 gotta wait til he moves up. People looked at the title as a reason to say he's a MW so he dropped it.
I don't even see why people are still crying Alvarez-Lara,Kirkland, Angulo at 155 isn't a cw or jumping divisions, and the only complaint about Cotto/Khan at 155 is a title being on the line.
People act like the title is more important than who you actually beat.
