Atypical of most Julian Jackson footage, this clip doesn't show any of his explosive punches decapitating his opponents.

Rather, this is Round 1 of the Warrior fight when Jackson was just 18-0.
He puts on a beautiful display of boxing skill. He does everything, from moving around the ring, using head movement in the pocket, range control, parrying the lead jabs, maintaining balance, cutting off the ring, and blocking punches. It's a near perfect round.

He didn't seem to use this kind of skill later in his career.

Thought you guys might enjoy watching it.
The quality is pretty bad, but it's better than the version on YouTube.

Don't forget that Jackson career was full of eye injuries, he could barely see after moving to middleweight but his technique was excelent as well as his timing, accuracy and speed.

It's a feeling out round against a club fighter who had some elusiveness. Not much landed. Yes, later he would go all out in the first round. He was still developing here. If I remember he kod Warrior shortly thereafter in an early round

Yeah, the effectiveness of his performance in that round manifests itself in more subtle ways than when he's landing more meaningful punches. And for a perfect round, you want to see more effective punches landing. But it's a side of Jackson I don't think is seen as often form, style, and technique wise.

I watched numerous JJackson fights early in his career, on the Don King Network which showed fights on the first generation satellite TV's. Jackson was a very good fighter.

God that man could punch. Nice straight compact punches.

Jackson was an excellently schooled fighter. But I think he fell in love with his power too much. He was always looking to land a big punch, which made him a bit predictable.
