Bio: Born and grew up and lives in the city of Obninsk, Kaluga region. He has been involved in boxing since 2005. The pupil of Obninsk school of boxing - children's and youthful sports school "Quantum". In 2009 he graduated from Obninsk Polytechnic University.

Style: Left handed puncher with relentless pressure style.

Arsenal: Strong punch, chin, good at cutting corners, stamina and extensive amateur career.

    Amateur accolades:

Beat 5 opponents to become Champion of Europe in 2013. Winner of 2012 Gee-Bee Tournament. Silver medal winner of 2011 and 2014 Russian Nationals. Champions of 2013 Russian Nationals. Winner of 2014 Chemistry Cup.

The winner of the championship of Russia among juniors in 2009.

In March 2011, at the international tournament "Zlatko Khrbicha Memorial" in Zagreb, which was attended by 80 of the strongest boxers in the 8 teams, was recognized as the best boxer in the tournament.

In March 2012, repeated his success at this tournament, again becoming his absolute winner.

He was one of the main contenders for the gold medal in his weight category at the 2012 Olympics in London. However, the president of the Obninsk Boxing Federation, Vyacheslav Klimenko, spoke about this prospect with restraint: "Egopov performs in all up to 91 kg, while heavyweight fighters usually open in a high-stakes way".

In 2013 he won the gold medal of the adult European Championship in Minsk, having defeated the Azerbaijani Teymur Mammadov in the finals.

Possible future: Champion in the making. Think, he will be a champion two years time. Can't point out one cruiserweight who has the work rate of Egorov. He will be moved fast. World of Boxing will move him like Kudryasov, most likely.

He never really impressed me that much (I've watched several fights live), looks quite ponderous and inefficient in the pros so far. But he seems to be a solid guy, has good technique, and as you say has a high work-rate.

I just can't see him beating someone like Usyk though., so I voted contender

Contender lvl, has some good attributes and strengths, but would be lacking at the top lvl imo, still a good fighter though

No reason why he couldn’t snag a belt in 3 years after Usyk and Gassiev move up. Dude can seriously bang and has sound fundamentals.

Would be cool to see him in with another brute like Papin, or Yarde if he makes the jump.

I was really high on him in the amateurs/WSB and thought his style was really well suited to the pros but all the feedback I've heard is that he has looked "blah". Disappointing.

I have seen numerous amateurs fights of him and have seen all his pro fights and I can say that he is the best cruiserweight prospect with big margin over the others. People just expect something different but he has always fought like this and had good success in the amateurs with this style of fighting. He has pro style, relentless pressuring style, good at cutting corners, chin of iron and fast feet to his arsenal.
