Figured this needed it’s own thread and also some appreciation for Panamanian fighters of the past. Although not as common with well known fighters as other Latin countries, such as Mexico or Puerto Rico, Panama has produced some great quality fighters, one particular fighter being arguably the greatest fighter in the last 50 years. They’re especially known for having a unique style with great movement, smooth boxing and slick defense.
Here’s some of the best Panamanians showing their great boxing skills and defense.

And of course you have the greatest of the bunch Roberto Duran. Although he’s seen more as an aggressive fighter he also applied great boxing abilities, craftiness, and cute defense.

And here’s the original Panamanian who started it all and was also the very first Latin American champion. He too also used slick movements back then.

Some exceptions aside ive noticed manny fighters from Panama look similar body wise, they are tall ,skinny and with long arms guys like Al Brown,Zapata,Laguna,Pedroza,Caballero,Moreno,Carrasquilla,Guillermo Jones,Ricardo Cordoba,Alfonso Fraser,Orland Soto,Luis Ibarra,Jezzreel Corrales etc and they also have a similar and somewhat a unique way of throwing punches and are usually ptetty slick or at least they try to be.

When Wilfredo Gomez was turning pro, Yamil Chade took him to Panama to live and train for a year because he said Panama teaches boxers movement better than anywhere else. The Panamanian school was very advanced so with the talent Gomez had he knew he’d create something special by taking him there.

They are just soooo fluid and smooth. Probably the most eye pleasing style.

Yes he was. Lujan was an underrated technician and his win over Zamora was a great boxing exhibition. He also fought Pedroza later on in Panama.

I would also add Anselmo Moreno into the mix as well. Lovely movement.

Do check out Anselmo Moreno as well. Almost eerily identical in ways.

Laguna was so slick. His hands were a blur and should be included on any fastest hands list. His agility was something to behold.

Recently saw a video of Enrique Pinder against Romeo Anaya and thought he had some nice boxing skills and movement, and then he ends up getting knocked out. Been wanting to see more videos of Pinder, especially his wins against Rafael Herrera and Chucho Castillo.

Alfonso Frazer should be mentioned. He showed some good boxing skills when he beat Nicolino Locche.
