I hate to say it, but his performance honestly reminded me of Eubank Jr.

Oh man if spence beating Garcia bothers you that much then you are gonna have an even harder time when Spence dissects old man PAC. You will probably have a meltdown and dissapear for months from the site. Then come back and call any Spence fan a racist .And tell everyone that Spence won because of PEDS. Oh boy you will definitely have PTSD (PAC traumatic Syndrome)

You're obsessed with Pacquiao. You're like Marky Mark stalking Reese in Fear, bro.

That's an excellent comparison. Although, Eubank Jr. was never quite put on a pedestal as high as Mikey was.

Isn't it just a case of him simply being too small?

Maybe, against a much poorer Welterweight he could have gotten something together and come out of his shell?

But against a bigger, stronger, man with a height and reach advantage, he was bullied.

I've seen some people say Spence Jnr didn't bully him so much as just out boxed him, which is kind of true.

But did he only out box him because he was able to bully him?

    If that makes sense?

What I mean is, I think the size difference was something that no (former) bloated up lightweight/junior weltetweight in boxing history could have overcome if they were facing a fighter like Spence jnr...at least not without some fights at the weight to find their best approach carrying that extra weight.

That's a simplistic overview of the fight. I didn't see Mikey create any action with any amount of success. This isn't like a safety-first Mayweather stinking out the fight. Spence came forward for most of the night and he threw in excess of 1,000 punches. When a guy is constantly letting his hands go, the opportunities to counter (Mikey's bread and butter) are there. What I saw from Mikey was the same one-two every time he engaged or tried to counter. There was no creativity or urgency. No combinations.

I agree with you, to an extent.

I was asking if people thought it was possible, more than stating a definitive assessment of the fight.

Maybe, because of the variables, it's hard to really know the relative merits of each and how good or bad.

If Garcia was a natural WW would it have been the same result?

Would Garcia be the same fighter had he been born a natural WW?

What if Spence jnr was a natural lightweight?

Would Garcia have been much more competitive?

These kind of unknowns are why the fight was, largely, a waste of time...it made no sense and offered little.

Yes that's because of the PED culture and even then there's only so much you take it.It's a shame that folk don't respect staying in ones natural division and dominating it,though I do understand why great boxers like Crawford and Lomo have to move up just to challenge themselves.

You're forgetting one thing! This is Mikey's 5th division. He may have over reached. MG is a damn good fighter and challenged himself. I feel there should be little to no criticism of his performance. Boxers are damned if they do and damned if they don't. G gets critisized for not moving up and Mikey gets critisized for getting beat in his first appearance in his fifth division. SMFH

And to be fair Eubank has always tried his best to hurt the opposition, almost had Groves out of there in round12.
Didn't see any belief on Mikeys part, look at Kell Brook who went to war with Golovkin, some would say stupidly so but at least he tried.
I said before that fight that I feared we wouldn't be able to believe what we were seeing, imo so many of these fights are akin to WWE type stuff.

Mikey stayed basic because he fought to survive, not to win. With a heavy handed, skilled welterweight who loves to trade, what other option did Mikey have? He did land some flush shots that had absolutely no effect.

Mikey didn't land much, but what he did, didn't bother Errol. That took away any hope he had of a one-shot, JMM-esque, game changing counter, and Mikey's moral victory became lasting the distance.

That's the thing I'm trying to figure out. Mikey had shown elite offense against subpar opposition. But against Spence, Mikey was 100% ineffective. It's not like he caught Spence with some big shots and Spence walked through them. No, it's that Mikey's nowhere as great as people projected him to be. He was supposed to be this elite level talent that was supposed to do big things.
