That's because Garcia is multiple levels below Marquez.

First Marquez has way more power. And he has more creativity in his punch arsenal.

It was his first fight at his 5th weight! That could be the reason. The proof of his skills has already been established with getting belts in 4 divisions. It takes good skills to accomplish that. Losing for the first time in your 5th division doesn't diminish what has already been done.

Over the past few decades only one fighter has been as effective after jumping 5 weight classes as he was in the lower weights. Just one single man. So you do have a point.

Brook fought Spence and where`s the logic in ducking a hard punching welter by fighting a harder punching middle at 160? Garcia wouldn`t go the distance v GGG.

He might have been able to it without Garcia throwing a counter also.

JMM was a great counter puncher, Garcia is an awful counter puncher, JMM would have landed more punches on Spence than he did v Floyd and would have thrown more counters than Garcia did against Spence.

Brook fought GGG for a nice payday and a built in excuse that he lost to a bigger man, then when he fought Spence and lost he'd have the excuse of being drained and being already damaged by GGG. Lol yeah no kidding Mikey couldn't go the distance with GGG, Mikey is a natural lightweight who started at featherweight I would hope GGG would stop him.

Garcia, that would parallel somewhat what Brook did.

I'll guess he probably didn't fight a beast like Spence doing it either.

I was under the impression GGG was his favorite obsession... Pacquiao is another one?

Yes it does. He had a choice imo, outbox him or bully him harder and get the stoppage

Marquez would have been destroyed by Spence. All Marquez did at 147 was KO a war torn blown up 126 fighter.

Marquez a great Featherweight, but hardly a 147.
