Love the back n forth with Collins n Jones on this one, never gets old! And a HUGE amount of time for Richie Woodhall, decent commentator, genuine nice guy.
Collins just has that look of a guy who likes a rumble - anytime! Still, Eubank fairly put him on the spot why he pulled out of fighting Joe. But what I like there is it's just history repeating - is it ducking when a fighter in their last few big fights looks for the names and the legacy? Cazlaghe gets the same questions that Collins did on why he didn't fight Froch, and the reasons are the same, neither ducked anyone, they just needed the big fights for it to be worthwhile.
Roy Jones put them straight when it was suggested James Toney was most talented. Clearly Jones was the best, most talented, most ability, most skill, superior to all. Calzaghe was no slouch either.
Richie Woodhall so humble there and it's true he did give Roy a good fight in the Olympics. He lost every round but he fought very well and put in a very creditable performance Watch him here, both when they announce the decision and the post-fight interview. He won a controversial decision when defending his WBC title against Glenn Catley Incredibly rare to see honesty like this from a fighter This content is protected
^^^^This^^^^^ It's my favorite episode. Super Middle was one of the weights I've always followed and liked. The heavyweight one was alright but not as heated as this one. Also Collins comes accross as a bit of a whiney girl. Theres no way he would have fought Jones back then who was already campaigning at Light Heavy. Even if he did Jones would have lit him up like a christmas tree. Woodhall always came accross as a decent down to earth fella. I liked the fact Eubank put him on the spot about fighting Joe remembering the fight had been booked and Eubank had to jump in on short notice so it was't anything like the situation with Joe and Carl because nothing was ever agreed Carl just had a hard on. Joe would have beaten Colliins who was a tough dude but was around at the right time to beat Benn and Eubank who were both shop worn by that point. It would have been nice to see Benn and Toney there but it would have kicked off royal style so perhaps best they didn't.
Jones has a very big head, not saying he doesn't deserve all the praise but doesn't he get tired of patting his own back?
collins only called out roy after he stopped fighting in the US and moved back to britain, where he fought exclusively. calzaghe was the opposite. fought exclusively in britain, then overcame his 'fear of flying' once he was ripe for the picking.
