According to this wonderfully accurate boxing film: Liston was supposed to throw the first Patterson fight but his manager never gave him the order. His manager was then about to be killed by the Mafia after Liston won until he told them that he won them a lot of money by putting a bet on Liston instead of Patterson. Liston had an affair with his manager's hooker-turned-girlfriend. To get even, his manager raped her and then set up Liston to get murdered by letting the Mafia believe that Liston refused to throw fights for them. Terrific, up there with "The Hurricane" in being an accurate boxing movie. Perhaps we should make a flim about the Klitschkos and include Wladimir getting drugged before the first Brewster fight by the Green Man.
I think Ali's punch knocked him down in their second fight and he could get up but choose not to, in slowmo you can clearly see ali connect.
