The sorry state of today's undercards

Take Oscar next month. He and Manny are going to split, essentially, 80 million dollars worth of Purse $$$. What can that POSSIBLY leave for the Undercard fighters? I imagine 2 no name jobbers with Golden Boy Promotions Sweatjackets getting ready to fight each other, and fighting a hard 10 round fight, and afterwards, being paid with some Autographed photos of Oscar, a few fight T-Shirts, and a voucher for a free 4 nights stay at the MGM, Sun-Thurs. courtesy of GBP. Oscar could have easily put Hopkins and Pavlik on his undercard, as well as a fight like Bojado-Judah, and perhaps that Arreola guy. But he can make more $$$$ by making the fans pay seperatley for each one.

 

You're absolutely right about this fight card stinking out the joint, and to me it doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't a promoter want their stable of fighters to get recognition on a night when everyone is watching? I guess we know why victor ortiz and Juan Man Lo are both fighting bums on the undercard. i guess these two guys are the "future" to these two promoters.

 

Back in the early to mid-90's, Don "The" King used to put on some insane fight cards, while Bob Arum usually jerked-off on his "Undercard" promotions... However, later it was determined that King was generally dicking his MAIN EVENT fighter outta several million dollars so he could throw some of the money around on the undercard.... I UNDERSTAND! Since I was paying 40 to 50 bucks a pop for his PPV telecasts, I never gave a squirt of **** if Mike Tyson was gonna get dicked outta a couple of million bucks.... I WANT THE ACTION!! Bob Arum's CARDS usually suck, except, for the main event.......
