A very interesting stat from GGG's last fight

    "1.249 million viewers, 645,000 viewers 18-49"

    48% of viewers were 50+.....
Now that really isn't good news for the sport.

Boxing's inability to get away from the tag of the 'Middle aged man' sport, has long been a problem when the sport has looked to grow.
It certainly hasn't been helped by underlying issues of homophobia and sexism in the sport, which are impossible it seems to shake off. Women boxing is still constantly being branded 'boring' and 'inferior', despite the fact that male fights can just be as dull. Whilst insults such as 'poof/puff' and 'gay/******' are still a mainstay between boxers, and fans.

Hopefully the (Long awaited!) acceptance and development of women's boxing will help to make the sport more appealing to women....That would be a positive step in the right direction. And hopefully the widespread acceptance in general society of LGBT issues, and gay rights, will transcend into the sport, as the younger generation eventually become the stereotypical 'Middle aged man' boxing fan.

Social Media and the internet are still being vastly underused by all aspects of the sport.
US PPV prices are still extortionate, and price out many potential fans....
    From single parents....to Students.
Boxing matches are still being broadcast by dozens of individual broadcasters, rather than a 'one app does all' e.g. Netflix etc, making it extremely complicated for the casual fan.

The sport of boxing needs to adapt to modern society, in both it's acceptance of different genders and sexualities....and the way it distributes boxing media to fans.

The sport is too corrupt to be embraced by the next generation.

What boxing needs is that once in a generation american, one that the public likes to see outside and inside the ring. Unfortunately, there's nobody in sight.

Boxing is too hard to understand for the wide mass in our time right now.

I mean the best example is Joshua vs Wilder.

Everyone out there who hasn't a specific knowledge is asking oneself WHY it is so hard to make this fight gonna happen?!

    Money makes fights. That's it.

Money rules every sport out there but most of them having league competition where everyone has to face everyone. So it's relatively easy to understand. Boxing is a complete different thing. It's about money, power, politics and some other things PLUS a high grade of corruption, a much higer grade than famous sports like football or basketball.

the boxing world is a completely dysfunctional family filled with the worst type of parasites feeding off the blood, sweat and tears of better men than them.
the only way to fix it is to scrap this model and adopt a better one. all the leeches will fight tooth and nail to keep the status quo, so change has to come from the outside.
there are many ways one could create a better system that would enlarge the pie and split it in fewer slices, where everyone, including the fighters, make more money.
one easy way to change things, is to limit fighter contracts to single fights. the promoters argument has always been that no promoter is going to invest in building careers if they have no guarantee that a fighter will stay when he becomes a star. well thats fine, dont do it. how much they invest in promoting at any one time is going to reflect in the profit margin, so they are free to decide how much money they want to make on any one single show. stars are made on these boards and other medium anyway, as long as they fight, were the ones who decide whos worth watching.

There are so many inaccuracies, lies and misrepresentations in this junk, I'm not going to justify it with a considered response.

It reads suspiciously like something a journalist for some fake-news rag like the Washington Post or the Guardian would dream and twist up. Either that or some research for some crackpot higher education project.

Get this gay-lobby cultural marxist crap off here.

PS - the sport is far from underepresented on social media. MJP anyone?

Oh I’m quite sure it’s well on it’s way,bad judging is bad enough nut the idea of fixed fights really bothers me.
Happens in the UFC too, that Conor McGregor fight with Eddie Alverez was the biggest staged psy op I’ve ever seen as Alverez was never that bad and every time he was touched he’d go down not unlike Nate Diaz in the rematch.
I mention the UFC as Dana Whites interest in boxing could be a killer for the sport.
Still have my doubts about Golovkin v Canelo as well as the draw when announced didn’t seem to bother GGG in the slightest.

I have a fishing friend up Scotland, born into a privileged family and a great guy and he was a fighter pilot and helicopter pilot instructor in the navy and when they brought these equal rights with women struggling to do men’s jobs he became really subordinate trying to get sacked and they only made him a Lieutenant Commander lol.
Just an example of today PC standards and re women’s boxing I’m not all that sure the majority wish to see Women taking repeated blows to the head?UFC may look worse with the blood and facial damage but it’s nowhere near as bad as Queensbury rules boxing with gloves.

if dana white and jz got together and started picking up guys when they become free agents, and just put them on single fight contracts, offering a percentage of total profit to the fighters along with a guaranteed amount, in 10 years they would have all the stars.
its a new world, promoters do not play the vital role they once did. all promotion is done by amateurs who provide every detail to the world about a fighter, down to how many chits they took that day. all the promoter does is give these nerds an open door and the promotion is taken care of.
what keeps boxing from growing, is the infrequency in which you have a fight where the winner is undoubtedly the best at that weight. when its universally accepted that a contest is to determine the best in the world, even people not interested in the sport will be curious. for that there needs to be a single title and new lineage established, because even the nerds are not smart enough, or intellectually honest enough, to agree on who should be called the best in the world with the evidence that supports him.
