The state/my take on Lucian Bute

Hey, good honest post. I wish the old IBF eliminator would have been Bute-Froch instead of Bute-Bika, but hey, we might see this fight after all.

Regarding LHW, I'm not sure his power will be AS respected up there. Just a hunch. :?

 

:good he tried fightin Froch twice before the Super 6 for the IBF eliminator first but Froch decline and Bika fought him instead and again right before the tournament happened but Froch pulled out of negotiations cuz the super 6 came about.

 

He IS a very efficient fighter and if he makes it past the first round Froch will have a very dangerous opponent.
It's a big if though,I do appreciate this guys.
I don't believe for a minute that Bute doesn't want the big fights.I do believe that Interbox(until now) have been very wary of taking him out of Montreal.
People can't blame Froch for not taking the earlier fight.When you look at their respective career trajectories,it's clear that Froch has taken the more respected(by neutrals at least) path.Not saying that's Bute's fault,just a cold hard fact.
I think the guy's realised that it's time to start building a legacy.He could follow a similar path to Ricky Hatton and accept a lower percentage(than he would normally get) against Froch or Ward to get the fight he really wants.If he's that good,it'll pay off.
Easy for me to say though.

 

The wariness stems from Lucas-Beyer. Every time I rewatch this POS **** decision I wish for somebody to put bullets through Sauerland.

On the particular Froch-Taylor (vs Froch-Bute) decision, TBH mate I think it was a business decision - not one of "respect" per say. Bute was a dangerous up & comer, Taylor had been in wars with BHop & Pav taking lots of damage.

I do agree with the fact that, from a global career perspective, Froch shows a substantially more respectable track record. 100%.

I also am no Bute fan,but I believe the issue lies with his management,not Bute.I truly believe Bute wants these big name fights ,if for no other reason to shut up the boxing critics.Interbox has done a great job promoting in Montreal,but enough is enough.Buy the dude a passport and fight on the road against any top 5 fighter and I would be happy.

Very fair post. Even if I think Bute is on par with the elite of the division, he has to prove it in the ring. Many reasons can explain why he got stucked the past 2 years. For example, when Kessler and Dirrell got out of the super 6, rumous were saying Showtime was going directly to the semi-final. The tournament would have ended much earlier, but Hershman decided to bring replacement fighters instead. Inerbox had a deal with Taylor (but he lost to Froch). They had twice a deal with Pavlik (who lost the first time and opted out the second one), etc.

I can understand those things but I can't help myself thinking Interbox was a very green organization. They learned a lot but that may have delayed some big fights for Bute. Now, Bute is unfortunately a riskier opponent than what he brings at the table. The fight against Froch in England is hard to make because the money is not there for these two fighters. Not Froch's fault.

 

May be Interbox has a fault in this but the fact that top fighters refuse to fight Bute even now as he is willing to travel in States and England shows that the fault is not all with Interbox

 

Until it actually happen, nobody really knows if Team Bute is willing to travel. Because somebody says they are ready to fight abroad, doesn´t make it an ultimate truth.

I am not questioning Butes skills, and I believe he will be a live opponent against anyone at 168 (I have him ranked 2. at the moment), I am curious though how he will react when fighting away in a hostile enviroment against a top fighter.

I noticed you refer to Bute as "glass jaw" a number of times now. Why don't you give me proof (fights) which sshowed us that he has a glass jaw. And you can't mention his 1st fight with Andrade. If you had watched that fight you would know that he ran out of steam.
