I believe it is wrong for Sky to charge existing Sky Sports subscribers an extra £20 to watch boxing so I just go to a Bar to watch those fights.

I detest the term "Casuals" it was born on these british boxing forums.

 

Cant wait for next sat at the arena.
Apparantly Josh is on fire in the gym and theres a lot of talk of him getting a shot if he comes through Martinez, which i expect him to do.

 

So called "hardcores" who complain about "casuals" are the most annoying people in boxing.

 

If boxing as a business had to rely solely on the so-called "hardcores", matches couldn't be afforded to be put on at anything beyond pubs and carparks.

 

"Hardcores" is a daft name for them. They should be called boxing snobs or just people who have nothing better to do than **** and moan about a sport they are supposed to be fans of...

 

I can genuinely understand why you feel so disillusioned with the sport at this moment in time.

I hear the same complaints, thoughts and sometimes even anger quite a lot these days, mostly to do with tickets but also exactly what you have said.

Personally I'm in the middle at the moment, I am just watching fights I'm very interested in, I used to watch so much boxing but as the months and years go by I am starting to get far more selective on where my money goes and to who.

 

Hanging about pub and car parks is classic casual behaviour.

The hardcore fan is sat at home trying to not think about whether a Japanese fan at an Inoue show is a casual or not in case their mind explodes.

 

Pride during 1997-2005 was the greatest example of big time fighting ever. MMA has never reached that level again whatever Daniella white says.90,000 would fill the Japanese arena for supercard after supercard.......the fact that even 12 years later the UFC and north American MMA still relies on some of those names says it all

Na not standardly. Most shows were not held at venues that large.

The attendances were very good though considering shows were monthly and and bi monthly.

Was different times though. MMA was hot in Japan before then pro-wrestling was hot and would fill 50k+ at the Tokyo Dome on a regular basis.
