Are they shot? I remember him being quite mobile in the most recent Marquez fight. Then people were blaming shot legs, PED use, and leg cramps for his footwork in Marquez 3 and the Bradley fight, but I thought it had to do with him failing to cut off the ring.

Boom comes the fourth Marquez bout and his legs look fresh once again.

I think it has to do because he tried boxing more than usual in the marquez 3 and bradley fight, then back to old manny in the 4th fight. I don't think his legs were ever gone, i just think his stamina is not the same so he chooses to box more to compensate.

He seems prone to more cramping but probably prepared very well for this fight. He moved around fine in the Bradley fight too.

He's getting older, it comes with the territory. Does Floyd look as quick on his feet then he used to?

Maybe because, for the 4th fight, he stopped drinking Dr Ariza's magic Kool-Aid.

I didn't hear that excuse for the bradley fight. He said it for the Mosley and Marquez III fight.

funny enough, he ran on the treadmill before the bradley fight to warm up his legs, only to gas late because of it

His stamina took a large hit during the bradley fight.. He cant be a 12 round buzzsaw power puncher for 12 rounds so he istryin to be more conservative with his energy and box

This will be key in the rios fight... Rios is young he will train his heart out for this fight and be very troublin

He wasn't actually exploding in to range in the fourth Marquez bout, he sat down on his footwork more and kind of glided across the ring to get in to range. Cutting out the explosiveness and bouncing will no doubt have helped save his legs up to that point.

But his athleticism has clearly deteriorated. Pacquiao has been doing a lot of things at a slower place for a while, which is why, IMO, Marquez was able to win the third bout, and produce the KO when Pacquiao tried to be as aggressive as he used to be, but not as fast.

The first two bouts, Pacquiao's athleticism counteracted Marquez's skill and allowed him to be very competitive. But as Pacquiao deteriorated (and Marquez at a much slower pace) it kind of evened out, allowing Marquez's skill to have more influence on the bout (particularly the third bout as I thought Pacquiao looked very good in the fourth aside from the odd moment).

    Top post.

The greatness of Pacquaio vs Marquez 1 and 2 was defined by the battle between athletic brilliance, and text book craft.

The difference has been that the athletic talent has faded with time, whilst the technically brilliant Marquez is still turning the metaphorical pages.

he's a smaller fighter who is in his 9000'th weight class and who has taken punches in victory and defeat for more than a decade.

of course his legs have deteriorated. they're the first thing to go on virtually every athlete, especially those who take bombs on the chin from bigger guys as a career.

They said leg cramps hindered his performances against Margarito, Mosley, JMM III, AND Bradley.

Like, holy ****. Figure it out or retire if you're going to get leg cramps 4 fights in a row that you claim "affected your performance."
