I just got done watching this fight for the first time and I've heard in the past a few people say that Teddy Atlas willed Moorer to victory and I heard it once said that at some point, after he got into Moorer's stool, he changed the momentum of hte fight. It didn't look like that to me at all, it looked like Moorer won most of the rounds and that was the pattern throughout the fight, it didn't change at any point, but maybe I was biased because I knew the result of the fight while watching, the judges certainly had it a lot closer. What I DO think is that Teddy was right in saying to Moorer that he's doing just enough to keep Holy off him. It seemed to me like Holy didn't show up that night and if Moorer had been aggressive he would have steam rolled him, because he didn't seem to be in his body that night. Instead Moorer fought to the level of the opponent. Wasn't really giving it his all. What did you guys think? Btw, do you guys know whether a Legendary Nights was done on this fight?
They didn't do a legendary nights but it was the 1st time a southpaw became the lineal HW champ Its overstated how much influence Atlas had on the result & detracts from MM's performance imo. His greatest night & Teddy ends up getting all the praise. Holy injured his left shoulder when he landed the left hook that knocked down MM & spent the rest of the fight unable to use his left hand properly. Post fight, whilst checking up on the shoulder they discovered Holy had a serious heart problem, he'd been fighting in a state of heart failure & had to retire from boxing. The rematch in 1997 when Holy was injury free, had his best camp in years & was razor sharp showed the difference in class between them.
