What was the justfication behind Ali's being stripped of his title by the WBA in 1967 ?

How did they rationalize it ?

In fact, this was the second time is 3 years that the WBA had stripped him, and he took on all-comers, unbelievable.

A much bigger disgrace was how he wasn't stripped after not fighting mandatory after mandatory while 'retiring' in the late 70's.

George Foreman. He was the mandatory from '75 and if i remember correct, the 'final' point was february '77. Of course, Monzon was immediatly stripped when he did the same, but Ali was allowed to fight a complete joke called Evangelista mid '77.

George Foreman went into hiding in '75. Ali did fight his mandatory that year in Frazier. Ali did nothing wrong.:good

Yeah, he fought his mandatory as soon as it was Frazier. He didn't fight ANY mandatory in 1976, 77 or 78. :good

Ali was earning the WBA top dollar, so why strip him?

Yeah, the Dunn fight was a much bigger earner than a Foreman rematch.

The reason was because in June 1967 Ali was fined $10,000 and sentenced to five years imprisonment for refusing induction to the US Armed Forces.
