Ray Sefo tried his hand at pro boxing and got KTFO by a guy that probably wasn't even ranked in the top 100.
this is stupid to compare k1 to boxing. in this matchup the taller fighter must have weighed a good few stone more than the smaller guy. therefore whatever he does to him is irrespective to comparison with boxing whereby all fighters (except heavies) will be expected to fight people of near equal weight. so take this **** thread and stick it up you k1 loving anus.
George Forman had a very strong, stiff jab. Lennox Lewis knocked down Tommy Morrison with a jab in their fight. Vitali Klitschko put Orlin Norris flat on his back with a jab and Norris was knocked out a second after getting up with a right that barely grazed his head, so you could argue that it was the jab that really did the damage. Btw, I rank Norris's showing and performance that night as one of the worst ever in the entire history of televised professional boxing, right up there with Grimsley in Grimsley-Thunder, Spinks in Tyson-Spinks, Medina in Medina-Lopez, and Moorer in Moorer-Tua.
First off there are four major types of jab....not just a jab. 1....The power jab or straight left, is done on the step forward. The Klitchkos have that Vittili perhaps the better power jab. Read your Dempsey book...even though Dempsey didn't use it, because he fought out of the crouch, it is the first punch he explains....it's explained oddly for today's terminology, but that was the termanolgy of the day. 2...The weight shift forward Jab, is done by shifting the weight on to the forward foot, with the jab. 3...The weight shift backward jab, done by shifting the weight to the back foot. 4...The flea flicker jab, or the hit him in the nose for a point while getting out of Dodge jab, where the back foot is moving back. Almost the exact opposite of the power jab. Read the Curtis Cokes book on that. Joe Louis loved hitting some one coming in, with a power jab, or straight left...your weigh and momentum moving forward, and the punch timed to his weight and momentum coming in, multiplies the power of the power jab or straight left. That jab that Lewis had in the second Rahman fight was the fast power jab.
Hard to tell how much of the damage was actually done by the jab. Looked to me like he was hirt by the kick, and then the jab knocked him out. As for boxers, Vladimir Virchis has a thunderous jab, just it's slow as hell. He's knocked out a few guys with good chins with his jab though.
