Thomas Oousthuizen beat Marcus Johnson on 27th April 2012 by UD

Robert Steiglitz vs ended up fighting Nader Hamden 5th April 2012 winning by UD. (Steiglitz was originally to defend against Kessler. Then Steiglitz was to defend against George Groves who also had to withdraw)

Ward doesnt seem to eager to fight Bute. I wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt happen.
Ward will probably beat Dawson at whatever weight and then we will here how Ward isnt ducking Bute and went after a bigger fight etc.

Dawson jumped SMW when he was in a good position for big fights but now I think would like to come back to the weight

Looking at the SMW history for most successful title defences and SMW title victories noted in brackets

1st) (joint) Joe Calzaghe (22) and Sven Ottke (22) both made 21 SMW title defences
2nd) Chris Eubank (15) with 14 SMW title defences
3rd) (joint) Nigel Benn (10), Chong Pal Park (11) and Lucian Bute (10) on 9 SMW title defences. Note, Park did vacate a title to contest for another SMW title

Heres the interesting part, Lucian Bute has also made 9 SMW title defences and if he beats or draws against Froch, he will then have made 10 SMW title defences and be 3rd on the list and still active. I admit Bute hasnt in 10 SMW title fights fought at the same level of competition as the above mentioned but he still has time.

4th) Markus Beyer (10) made 8 SMW title defences as a 3 time SMW champ with Chong Pal Park
5th) Frankie Liles (8) and Steve Collins (8) 7 SMW title defences
6th) Mikkel Kessler (9) made 6 SMW title defences as a 3 time SMW champ and did vacate

As title defences and SMW title fights go Bute is looking promising as an active SMW

Alot is said about Frochs run of opposition in Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward

I cant really understand why Kessler took the fight with Green. He was due to fight Steiglitz for the WBO SMW title, which if he won would have made him a 4 time SMW champ and given him a world title and good win, but instead fought Green for a Diamond belt at a new weight where he hasnt the same name.

I do think now though that the Steiglitz fight would have caused him alot of trouble with Roberts workrate, jab and combinations.

I guess now Kessler is a LHW now and off this thread :|.
