sounds to me like the super middle title changed hands ALOT before joe calzaghe got it.

I havent concluded their resumes, please dont twist what was written. Read the first page. I wrote the division isnt as good as it was, and that Johnson a 14 losses 2 draws fighter, wasnt able to compete in the division years ago, but is now a S6 fighter with a KO victory.
Kessler the pre tournament favourite entered with a loss to one of the past better fighters, and all the others have lost from there. The SMWs that havent (Ward and Bute) are feasting off of Calzaghe and Kessler leftovers, as their current big wins. That is because the division isnt a strong as previously

Your misunderstanding. They have lost to each other, but their losses tend to go back, when the line is followed to the former division kings

 How can it be when pre tournament favourite was beaten by him, and Wards big victory is over an unwell double vision suffering, already beaten Kessler, and Butes resume is arguably no better than Lacys. Get it now

Thats exactly what it did. JC had the WBO and had no designs on unifying. It was only because of the money on the table in the Lacy bout and subsequent unifications by Kessler that he ended up with the titles. Prior to that all the titles were splintered (apart from the IBF when Sven had it) and changed hands often.

Not as much as you would think, when you had 3 Ottke, Calzaghe and Beyer (3 time WBC champ) who lost the title but won it back

Mitchell was well behind vs Liles before TKO'ing him in the 11th, he was losing to Siaca in the first fight and arguably lost to him in the second fight, when he fought a really good SMW in Calzaghe his limitations were proven.

Lacy's resume is as good as Bute's, which is the problem, Lacy's career is practically done and look at his resume, yet he's considered one of the best SMW's.

Branco was a world champ due to his win over Mehdi Sahnoune, which shows titles are given out too easy. Nardiello may have still been world-rated, but was past his best since the Benn fight. Much like Mitchell, when Woodhall fought a very good SMW(Calzaghe again) he was beaten handily enough.

So what? You're clearly a troll who spends more time surfing Boxrec rather than watching fights in the division. The competitiveness of 68 in comparison to when Sven and JC reigned over the division is unquestionable.

Ignorance again :patsch. Ottke was IBF & WBA champ and wouldnt fight him. When Ottke vacated Lacy became champ and Calzaghe beat him, same a Beyer, but when he lost to Kessler, Calzaghe beat him also.

Ottke was also WBA champ for a fair while, and Beyer had the WBC title over 3 reigns for long periods

again, jeff lacy is finished, retired and butes just getting started.

and so what if kessler already lost? byron mitchell lost twice before fighting calzaghe.

EDIT: also its not like kessler lost to a bum, he lost to arguably the best supermiddle ever.

it is, you're acting as if kessler will be the only good win he has

why not be patient and see?

maybe in a few years time you can bump this thread to prove me wrong?
