Damn bailey. You either post great threads or you post whatever the opposite of great is. Look, With a tourney pitting the best against the best where you have very multi-dimensional fighters how can u say this?
While 168 doesn't have the p4p'er like it did in calzaghe it certainly has alot more depth.

The Super 6 does make great fights, no question, but my point was that it was a more talent packed division a few years ago (forget Calzaghe, as thats unfair to include him).
The pre tournment favourite of the S6 was coming in with a loss to one of the past top men, and Bute and Ward are feasting off of leftovers.
Please skim over the pages of my replys to get the drift.
A good example is that Dirrell isnt as accomplished SMW as M Veit, but is just recognised.
G Johnson couldnt compete at SMW years ago losing to Ottke, Branco, Sheika, Vanderpool etc, but is now a S6 fighter. It would really highlight what ive written if Johnson won

This is the strongest group I've seen at 168 in a while.

:patsch. What Stronger than Ottke, Beyer, Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell, etc :-(.
If you look at Dirrells SMW resume it is less accomplished than M Veits. Dont be fooled by promotion

in the "top 10" 2010 crop of fighters than there ever was in the last 10 years when comparing top 10s.

Like them or not, guys like Kessler (with 100% vision), Ward, Bute, Dirrell, Froch & Abraham would most likely, convincingly beat 8 out of the top 10 guys in 2000; 8 out of the top 10 guys in 2001; 7 out of the top 10 guys in 2002; possibly 6 out of the top 10 guys in 2003...and so on...

Jean Pascal was borderline top 10 at SMW. He is now LHW champion. And all that in less than 2 years!

The problem with the way Bailey sees things is that he gives way too much importance on what guys have accomplished, especially Europeans. Accomplishments are obviously important but only a fraction of the analysis that needs to be done.

To validate his reasoning is like saying the regular season, 1992 Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls were an ordinary team because they never won an NBA championship yet...

Answers in Red on your post above

I got fed up with filling out in red on the years but my point was seriously proven by your thread especially for the years 2004 and 2005. I did only go up to 2005 as my point was too well highlighted.

Edit cont.. As you can see up to 2005 where I stopped, a fighter like B Mitchell has even arguably done more at SMW than most of the S6 and hes not the strongest on the list

Accomplishments are what rates fighters :patsch.
You say especially Europeans which is wrong because I was noting how B Mitchell is a 2 time WBA SMW champ and had KOd Liles the then #1 SMW, and beat future champ Siaca, drew with 2 weight champ Girard and looked unlucky to many against Ottke, and that most of the time Mitchell was the away fighter

Not to mention he puts a lot of weight behind the super shaddy Sven Ottke; who wouldn't have the record he does if he hadn't hid in Germany where he was privy to many suspect victories...

I don't think his comment was meant to be personal... He just wants you to die so the (somewhat) good people of this forum won't have to read your uninformed posts anymore...
