Baily is ass hurt because an American is at the top and is likely to stay there in his precise european dominated division.
Just saying Current champ means little But OK Ward and Bute could turn out to be special and I noted they need to meet to decide, But after them You only really have Kessler who was beaten by the previous era man. Froch is a 2 time champ who has only won vacant titles and never beaten a top SMW. I was mentioning the bottom 6, so please tell me what they have done, because if you think 6 out of 10 are weak then you look a fool trying to say the division is strong
Except for Bute, who's been hiding in his home-town, fighting the likes of Mendy, Miranda, Magee, Brinkley and his career best win (he's had 30 fights, and is 31 years old) being a 42 year old Glen Johnson, coming off a loss. (Don't forget Andrade knocked him out in the 12th round, and he got bailed out by the home town ref).
I dont care or mind who is at the top as long as they are willing to take on the top man in the division and Ward is willing to fight Bu... I mean Dog Dirrell. If Ward agrees to fight Bute he will be well respected (win or lose) but ducking fighters in his own division doesnt look good and besides if I was to act like you think that would be ridiculous as 2 of the fighters Im saying shouldnt yet be in the top 10 are from England and Im a fan of them, also the #1, 2, 3 and 4 are European along with 7, 9 and 10 so stop being so silly
Top heavy, bottom weak. Calzaghe aside though, the top 4 are probably better now than they were at any point in the last decade. Anyway, it's not really fair to contrast one year to another when one is done with the benefit of hindsight. The early to mid 90s heavyweight era was derided at the time, but it looks a lot better when you evaluate the fighters' overall careers. Aside from a fleeting time in the early 90s, 168 has been a relatively weak division throughout its short history. Of the long-reigning champs only Calzaghe built any kind of HOF worthy legacy, while superior fighters like Toney and Jones didn't stick around long enough to build the division.
Exactly...175 is much weaker then 168...but that is the downfall to having so many divisions, yu have x amount of top fights and when you divide them into 2 or 3 divisions, they all will suffer to some extent....
Eh... Smw.. Ward, Bute, Froch and Kessler. These guys could all easy take a belt in MW or LHW. Froch allrdy owned Pascal... Ward is a LHW gold medalist. I think SMW is preatty good.. 1 of the best divisions.. Why do you think they made the super 6 today and in this div. Because of the potentital and competition.
I don'T care if a division is weak or not. As long as the fights are competitives. Thats what brings entertainment to boxing fans. Were Ward and Gatti elite?
Froch has never beaten any top SMW or SMW champion. Just because Pascal won a belt at LHW means little, some fighters cant compete at a certain weight division, I have gone through this before. A Abraham cant compete at SMW, but was a good MW, G Johnson was competitive at MW world class at LHW but only really a journeyman at SMW. Look at yesteryear Starie beat Woods who became a LHW world champ Veit beat Braehmer who became a LHW world champ Sheika beat Johnson who became a LHW world champ Some fighters just cant do it at a certain weight division
