The Super Six Boxing Classic is the best thing to happen to boxing in a long, long time. Hell, as long as I can remember I haven't seen a tourney in the boxing game of this magnitude. I honestly was excited, yet skeptical at first because I never thought it would come off. However, now that it's only a day and a half off I begin to wonder. How many people are going to watch this monumental event outside of hardcore boxing fans? I've seen ads here or there, but mostly on boxing sites. I'm a boxing FANATIC so of course I'm going to hear about it. I don't have local channels (DirecTV) so can't speak on that aspect, but from a marketing standpoint Showtime seems to be lacking. Is it just me or is this thing kind of flying under the radar.

The reason I bring this up is because I truly hope these matches generate ratings. Ratings will wake up promoters and networks and then we will get the ball rolling for more spectacular match-ups and concoctions such as the Super Six. It seems sad that boxing does seem to be losing its steam in the U.S. market. I mean there are a few guys at work I talk to about it from time to time but they don't follow it like I do. If I asked them how Rey Bautista was or Lucian Bute they'd look at me like I was ******ed. All I'm saying is... I hope this **** goes well and the fights live up to the hype. Enjoy gentlemen.

I am going to watch every fight for certain. Some of the fights on direct broadcasts like Abraham vs. Taylors, others later like Froch vs. Dirrell.

The promotion and marketing should have been better. Only hardcore boxing fans will be watching

If you aren't going to watch then you fail as a boxing fan

and encourage them to do the right things

    knowing they'll get the returns

No, they won't or not at first anyway. I brought the tournament up with a mate who likes his boxing and he didn't even know what I was talking about.

Do a poll of the people in your work place if they know what the Super 6 Boxing Classic is and I'm betting most don't know or at best can't tell you more than 1 boxer involved.

You're right in a way, it's for the dedicated fan, but we need casuals to come over if we're to see more of these tourneys.

If it's a monumental success, we'll see these happen all the time in different weight divisions. I'd love to see one between all the fighters between 140lbs 147lbs.

Hopefully the opener will produce good ratings.

If average, there's still hope: there will be replays on Showtime and a good summary of Satuday's show in Fight Camp Episode 2, before Kessler-Ward. And another Fight Camp before each R2, R3, SF and F fight, so it's not a one night show, the show will go on and more and more people will tune in. So if the show will be exciting and competitive, it can be pretty huge in the later stages and monumental for a possible next Super Six 'season'.

It's had a fair bit of coverage in the UK tabloids. I think it should do pretty well. If it was available on terrestrial TV I reckon it'd be a smash hit.
