Okay, let's cut through all the juvenile bollocks involving petty one-upmanship and mentioning the retired Calzaghe every 3rd thread and let's look at what's in store for us now. We have a new World Champ, who won in outstanding fashion. He has firmly arrived on the scene. We have a scenario of potentially two damaged fighters in Taylor and Kessler having World Title fights immediately in the next round. How will they fair? Froch v Kessler just got very interesting. Poor Taylor can probably be discounted. We have King Arthur Abraham go against the slick Dirrell who in my eyes, beat Froch. This is a very tough fight to call. This tournament is great for boxing :good
:deal All true. (Except the bit about Taylor being toast. I wouldn't count him out yet.) The tournament just got a lot more interesting !
I hope Taylor isn't done, but he has been badly stopped in his last two bouts. I hope he can up his game though as he seems a great guy.
Hell yeah this tournament just got blown wide open! kessler better watch his ass if he's going to look like that again Cause he's got the two biggest hitters in the tournament coming up in his next two fights. Ward has to be the favourite now. Dirrell and Abraham have a shot at beating him but after tonight I'd have to say Taylor and Froch have no chance. And obviously Kessler has no hope. Another note about Kessler. It seemed like he was having problems with Ward's power. If that is the case I can't imagine him enjoying fighting Froch or AA. Also it really seems like if someone disrupts his boxing it affects him quite abit. It will be interesting to see how he does against Froch a less mobile fighter but none the less an awkward opponent, with very good power.
I really have to give credit to Showtime for assisting in putting together this tournament. Great job. Take notes HBO.
Yeah bang on. I was very surprised at the power in Ward's jab and his hooks. He stunned Kessler repeatedly, and Kessler showed a good chin. Those punches would have floored a lot of guys. I think Kessler took Ward lightly and regarded him as feather-fisted, but when he felt his power, coupled with the awkwardness, he never had a plan B. The fight was the combination of a great performance by Ward and a dreadful performance by Kessler.
I've just got to admit, this Super Six is really started the best it could possibly start as. Before this fight everyone was thinking Kessler was going to batter Ward and batter Froch, and Ward was going to just be another guy to beat, not so. I'm looking forward to all three upcoming fights, and then the group 3 stages are EVEN ****ing better. Brilliant.
The Super Six tournament is everything we could have hoped for, and more. We just had the tournament favourite upset by a very live dog who just had his coming-out party. Abraham stops Taylor late and puts some question marks on Taylor. Froch and Dirrell have a close fight with a contested decision which makes things interesting.... The list of reasons goes on.
Yeah, it's the best thing to happen in boxing since I can remember! Hopefully they repeat this format regularly.
Yep! This tournament is indeed great for boxing! AA will have a very tough time with Dirrel.Thats the way I see it,too! Kessler will easily outbox Froch IMO. As for Taylor vs Ward I for one dont think that Taylor is shot and still has enough left in the tank to upset the apple cart and beat Ward.
