Exactly. Hometown decisions happen everywhere, Sauerland is as good (for delivering fights) and as bad (for making it sure his fighter come out on top) as any other promoter from all around the world. Too many bad decisions happen, so let's just hope all the traveling fighters during all rounds will get the fair treatment and f*ck the corrupt judges. But to say Sauerland, him alone of this bunch is some kind of evil mind pulling all strings and others are innocent little boys is madness. Shaw, Dibella, Goossen, Sauerland and Hennessy are all the same, and they would've been idiots entering the tournament without knowing their influence will be used.
No way hennessey let's froch go, and where do you get your info. I've heard nothing of froch looking for another promoter.
WTF are you on? Bad decisions happen all over the globe. Other then Miranda- aa 1(Miranda shot himself in the foot with the headbutts), aa has CLEARLY beat or KTFO EVERY opponent put in front of him. Pretty much the same with Kessler. So if Kessler Ward is a questionable decision in Oakland, do you stand by what you are promoting as far as bad decisions in the fighters home country? It seems like you are a fan of a SMW who was not invited to the tournament. It is obvious from certain fighters fans they are pissed off there fighter is not involved.
This "they're all the same" equivalence is just garbage. The other promoters may all be crooked in their own way but none of them has been responsible for an abomination on the level of Ottke. And Ottke is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Sauerland.
I'm pretty sure ward is promoted by goosen-tutor. don't know about dirrell. Back in AOL chatroom w/ you conspiracy theorist.
Another truly biased statement. Ottke was a great defensive fighter, no one landed **** effectively on him. Reid was definitely a robbery, and there were very close fights but I doubt you watched these fights and scored based on clean effective punching. Oscar De La Hoya for example has more debated fights than Ottke, how's that possible in your view?
Big don't you think this tournament should be welcomed by us fans with open arms? Instead we got dudes shitting on it already? WTF is up with that man?
this has the potential to change boxing in a huge way. the amount of attention and money/ratings this could generate if it gets rolling real good...awesome for boxing. all the guys in it and all the fights already announced...i can't ****ing wait. no way this comes off as a huge success and then becomes a flash in the pan one shot deal. other weight classes/fighters would want to get in on something like this. it would mean one loss won't "kill your career". you are gauranteed multiple fights w/ the best in your class so you can always rebound and still win the whole damn thing. in today's world if taylor were to lose to aa, no way he gets fights w/ anyone else in this tourney. as it stands, either man can lose and still recover and win the tourney.
I understand the fear of robbery, but things like "In this and this country you get robbed" is clearly a media creation by the largest boxing market (either by biased or paid writers and other promoters who don't state "if you come here, you're gonna get robbed too", yet it happens all the time). So there's a truth of the concerns, hometown decisions happen, but just look at the others involved... the correct thread wouldn't point fingers to a single promoter but to hometown judging itself, as all fighters will have some fights at home and some far away from home.
lol "there was only one crooked decision that AA was involved in! Why are you being such a dick!?!" Not exactly helping your cause. But anyway, I'm not trying to bash AA. Just picking what I think is the most likely bad scenario that will ruin the tournament. Other scenario are possible and I don't discount them. Why wouldn't I stand by it? No you're the one with the agenda. Don't try to pin one on me to make yourself feel better about yours.
Why wouldn't someone point fingers where they need to be pointed. Sauerland rightly deserves a lot of scepticism for thier history. Why come with some knee jerk nationalism? I don't want any of it. I'm not talking about germany, I'm talking about Sauerland and the potential for shady dealings to screw up the super six.
You're trying to DEFEND Sauerland and Ottke and even you admit to one robbery. Don't you realise how bad that sounds? Sven Ottke was crap. Here a good article on him: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=5449&more=1
My cause? What cause is this you are talking about? I could not believe my eyes when they announced the go ahead for this tournament. The tournament has not started and you are on here bashing it saying it will go down in flames? Why would a boxing fan even think about this? Then you go bash Sauerland and even have the audacity to say this tournament is made for Arthur when in all reality as a huge AA fan myself don't see him winning it? I brought up Miranda because a lot of posters thought he was cheated in Germany when in reality he should have been disqualified for head butting consistently, and I am not even mentioning low blows which there were many. And if AA does happen to win it clearly, would you take everything you wrote back?
Don't you think you're giving just a little too much credit to Sauerland's power and influence vs. the rest of Planet Earth? You state "the whole thing has been constructed in order to maximize the chances that their cash cow, Abraham, will win the tourney.", then you say "I'm talking about Sauerland and the potential for shady dealings to screw up the super six." :huh One little German promoter setting up then screwing up the whole tournament while kicking 4 other promoters and TV stations butt around is a bit too much for Sauerland's appetite, don't you think?
I don't want it to go down in flames. I'll be as happy as anyone if it completes a success, regardless of who wins and who loses. But no tournament of this scale has ever been pulled off and I'm bracing myself for hijinks that I feel may be coming down the pipe. Is it really that terrible to bring up possibilities? You said it yourself, you don't think AA will win. Isn't there a pretty good chance then that Sauerland might try and ensure that he does "win", like they have so many times in the past with other fighters? It ain't bashing to tell the truth and the truth is Abraham's promoters are as crooked as they come. Why would I? If he wins then my fears will have been unrealised but what is there to take back?
