the tournament has been great so far. Its been competitive like it was supposed to be. Europe has won 2, USA has won 2. There's been alot of controversy, but that's normal in boxing and if anything it gets our blood boiling even more. Now we will have our first USA v USA and Europe v Europe fights. This is pretty interesting as well and brings a different dynamic to the super6 that I really like. In the final round, we'll have another USA vs USA fight, another Europe vs Euopre fight, and the fight that will determine the winner of the group stage between USA and Europe will be Kessler vs Green.
i personally love this because it brought much needed attention to a talented division that usually doesn't get that much attention..this is good for boxing and hopefully other divisions will follow in its example when its over...however the winner of the whole thing needs to face whoever is the ibf title holder for a complete unification
Like said earlier, I like the Super Six... But with all the controversy will it have the right winner at the end? There are now a lot of unexpected and controversial outcomes possible. What if Dirrell loses his fight to Ward in a controversial split decision... he would be out of the tournament! How would the boxingfans react?
well i imagine dirrell will fight bute and we get some awesome semis and an awesome final in the super 6, so im pretty sure the fight fans will be very happy
There was always going to be one problem with the tournament; the possibility that with the variety of styles and every fighter having weaknesses, everyone could pick up a defeat. So by the later stages it could look like a tournament of damaged goods or damaged reputations rather than a tournament of champions. But apart from that, Taylor going out was a problem although I think it's been overcome. The fallout from Dirrell/Abraham is a bit more of a problem for me, as with all the hysteria it's hard to see how Abraham can fight in the US in the near future, if at all, and I think Dirrell's reputation, maybe among a different set of fans, is also not 100%. There's also the problem of judging and venue. Possibly they should have had all these fights in a neutral venue, say Canada, like a soccer world cup or similar tournament. But I realise the home venue is where the money is so there's just the question of referring and judging, I don't think they've fixed that yet. Probably it's a bigger problem than this tournament, pro boxing just doesn't have a single governing body like other sports. Some fighters have random blood testing, others don't, that's another example.
